SQ is the best, overall, without a shadow of a doubt. I've done BA longhaul in Y (744) and BA doesn't even compare with SQ.
SQ, IMO, has better food in Y, better seating (744) and the BEST in-flight entertainment, KrisWorld. The cabin crew are the best (my last flight from SIN-LHR last year in Y was the most fantastic Y flight I have had yet). Not to mention they have 3 daily flights from LHR, one of which is operated by an A380, as well as one daily from MAN.
My friend needed to fly LHR-BKK in Y recently. He had a choice of BA, QF and TG or BR. I told him to fly via SIN on SQ even though it's indirect. That's the best decision he's made in a long time.

SQ are ok in Y if you are *G and can pre-book an exit row seat (preferably upstairs on the A380). Otherwise if you can stomach the stopover then Thai with their 34" seat pitch, excellent service and cheaper prices (at least in the other direction with which i am more familiar...) would be my choice

You should now be able to book both BA and QF codes in the premium economy cabin on all BA and QF flights between SIN and LHR. Fares are not always aligned in this cabin, so there are some useful opportunities to take advantage of.

Singapore airlines is the best followed by QF then BA are languishing far behind.
If i had a choice i would fly QF lunch time as that is the least busiest flight so chances of getting empty seats next to me would be high
