Apart from Hawker centres (must haves include laksa satay and murtabak) my must have dining in SIN are Indian food at somewhere like the Banana Leaf Appollo on Racecourse Rd ,seafood at the East Coast Seafood centre and Champagne Brunch at one of the big hotels -my favourites are the Interconental and the Four Seasons. You need to be able to write off the day after brunch as the freeflow champagne is a KILLER at lunchtime!

I think I have settled for:
Blue Ginger (first day dinner) Humble House (second day lunch) Muthu's (second day dinner) -undecided for Sunday brunch 5 Star Hainanese Chicken rice or Boon Tong Kee (Third day dinner) Les Amis (departure day lunch) -this should give me a fairly broad sample of culinary Singapore for THIS trip. Thoughts?? |

We were also not at all impressed by Blue Ginger. The food was served so quickly it was obviously not made to order - and it wasn't very tasty. The most memorable thing we tried there was the Durian Chendol - and it was memorable only because of the extremely unusual experience it is to eat durian. Simply putting a mounthful of the chendol CLOSE to your lips (not touching, mind you) starts an intense burning sensation. After tasting, the durian flavor really lingers. Now I know why durian has such a reputation.
I bet you can find somewhere in town better than Blue Ginger. |

It was durian chendol. All I can say is that it was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had with food...and I would not say it was altogether pleasurable. Perhaps an acquired taste. |

I've just booked Les Amis in the Botanic Gardens for our honeymoon later this year. Would this be the better option of the two Les Amis?
I hadn't heard of the Halia restaurant - would this be a better choice for a honeymoon dinner than Les Amis? |

I bet you can find somewhere in town better than Blue Ginger. Hmm.... I think I will ask the Hotel Concierge for alternatives to Blue Ginger..... |
