Changi Airport Terminal 2 Closed from May 1 for 18 months

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...id-19-12614210

"Changi Airport's Terminal 2 will close for 18 months from May 1 2020, as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to impact the aviation sector, Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan said in Parliament on Monday (Apr 6). "

They will be renovating the terminal during this time to be better prepared for a recovery.

Seems an optimum time to renovate.

Agreed, it's a good idea. Singapore is an amazingly well run corporation, er, country.

Let's just hope that we'll be flying again in numbers that support the expansion in 18 months.

I'm itching to go somewhere. Anywhere.

Wonder how all of this will impact the Terminal 5 development (which already seems underway).

I can't find the source, but I believe that they have warned that projects might slow if the virus continues for a longer time (though that seems to be stating the blindingly obvious really). It can't help that they've just gone into a month long lock down.

Goes to show just how bad they expect the state of airline industry to remain for a long time to come.
