Solitaire status is awarded to PPS Club members who have accumulated at least 500,000 credited flight miles or 250 flight sectors in First or Business Class with Singapore Airlines or SilkAir. Life membership is offered to Solitaire PPS Club members who have flown at least 1,875,000 credited flight miles or 1,000 flight sectors with Singapore Airlines or SilkAir in First and Raffles/Business Class since joining the programme.
If you look at his/her flight miles, the total will be around 400 x 2 x 1.5 (25% clas bonus and 25% elite bonus) x 550 equal to 660,000 credited flight miles or only 440,000 actual flight miles. Thus, he or she in this case is not a million miler flyer.
(Hmm I hope my calculation is correct. I am afraid of being critized of my math. )

I use to get birthday wine, but I only get a card now. As I understand it they are giving the $180 vouchers to cover renewal, birthday, etc gifts, magazine subscriptions, etc as a one-hit thank you/cost saving. I've already spent most of the vouchers on some specific makeupmy partner likes (she probably has a year's supply now)! I have also requalified for 5 years PPS and about 50 sectors short of Solitaire after this trip. I also supsect they have continued to do more for Solitaires than PPSes.
I thought it was a fairly smart move by SQ. It costs them less than the face value and it's all spent with them (or not used) with the upside potential of extra in-flight or mail order sales.
Complain as we might, they have always done much more recognition like this than any other programs that I am/have been at the top level of. UA gives time-limited upgrade vouchers, QF nada.
