Difference in SQ codeshares

I might be wrong, as I do noz know what the purpose of this overview is, but to the best of my knowledge there are two types of codeshares here:

The longhaul ones such as SIN - FRA on LH / SIN - AKL on NZ and LHR - YYZ on AC.
These are genuine codeshares which can be booked anytime.

The shorthaul codeshare such as the ones on BM or the Intra German / European codeshares on LH can only be booked in conjunction with a longhaulfeed on SQ or the above longhaul SQ codeshares. It is not possible to book them independant / solely. There is some speical check when trying to book them - have tried it with my TA - thinking that FRA-ARN would be nice to collect sectors ;) as I do take this return trip at least once a month but it does not work.

Would be happy to be proven wrong though :D

Cheers

but about sectors... someone told me you can only earn it when you fly biz or first EXCLUSIVELY ON Flights operated by SIA or SILKAIR
isn't it true?

From "Membership Guide" page 28 footnote 6:

To earn sector count and mileage credits for PPS Club when travelling First or Business Class on flights operated by code-share partner airlines - Air Canada, Air New Zealand and Lufthansa - under our code-share arrangement, your flight reservation must be made through Singapore Airlines. A ticket issued for such travel will show the designated Singapore Airlines flight number.

Sure, and I'll add the other flights too :)

Is my understanding that only AC, LH and NZ code-shares may be eligible for PPS correct? Ie not BI, BD, VS.

Is it possible to book some of these codeshare on RTW ticket. From the RTW fare conditions, seems to be SQ flights 1000-1016 / 1053-1999 / 3000-5999 / 7000-7999 / 9000-9999 that cannot be booked as part of RTW.

Kiwi Flyer May 25, 2004 1:04 pm

I have come across some more NZ codeshares. Will update when I get a chance.

I was able to price ARN-FRA on SQ without any connection from FRA on SQ. Couldnt get any other prices then full Y though :( (or about 8400sek or so).

StarG May 30, 2004 8:50 pm

So you can earn PPS mileage for ALL these codeshare flights?
By the way, does SQ have a dedicated check-in counter for these codeshares (in the foreign cities)?

Dont think so. Some are less than minimum mileage for PPS, and not sure whether Royal Brunei and Virgin Atlantic operated flights are eligible. In any event, needs to be booked under SQ code AFAIK.

I doubt it - they certainly dont in NZ.

There is a minimum for sectors, but I have never heard of minimum mileage.

Kiwi Flyer May 30, 2004 10:15 pm

Sorry - wasnt reading properly. :o I'm not aware of any minimum mileage for PPS either.

I'll blame it on the redeye last night/this morning and sleep deprivation ;)

Now Austrian Airlines too.......

I missed this last week........

From SQ website:
Singapore Airlines And Austrian Airlines To Launch Codeshare Service
01 June 2004

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch a new codeshare partnership with Star Alliance partner, Austrian Airlines, on 2 June 2004. The agreement will enable SIA customers to fly direct to Vienna thrice weekly on Austrian Airlines.

“This codeshare agreement attests to the strong ties among Star carriers. With this partnership, we are able to extend our network in Europe through our partner, Austrian Airlines, and offer our customers the option to connect onwards to its Eastern European points,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, SIA’s Executive Vice President, Marketing and the Regions.

The Austrian Airlines Singapore-Vienna service, operated using B777 aircraft, departs Singapore on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0015hrs and arrives in Vienna at 0610hrs the same day. The flight from Vienna departs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1100hrs and arrives in Singapore at 0440hrs a day later.

SIA currently operates 67 direct weekly services to 10 European gateways, using a mix of its flagship B747-400 Megatop and B777-200ER (extended range) aircraft. In addition, it serves 32 European cities through codeshare arrangements with Lufthansa and bmi.

Can't find the flight numbers yet.......

Some ANA code-shares starting 1 Aug www.singaporeair.com

ANA and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have reached an agreement to begin code-sharing operations on flights between Japan and Singapore from August 1 this year. From that date, SIA’s two-letter code will be applied to ANA’s 7 weekly flights between Tokyo Narita and Singapore, and Singapore Airline’s 42 weekly flights between Singapore and Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, Nagoya and Fukuoka will carry the ANA code. A total of 49 flights per week, using 777 and 747 aircraft, will be covered by the agreement.

...
Does anyone have details on the 7 ANA code-share flights SIN-NRT & vv?

I am just curious - do the PPS air benefits (100% excess baggage, 'upgraded' lounge access, etc.) apply to partner operated codeshare flights? Does anyone have any experience to share?

pps04 Oct 26, 2004 5:13 pm

The excess baggage and priority baggage handling and boading still are still benefits on these code share flights. The only issue is why the lounge upgrade which I do not think is possible. When I flew with TG sometime 2 months ago in Class J, I could only use their Business class lounge in BKK and bags were tagged with Business Class priority tags. But since you are a lucky PPS Solitaire member, you can always use the SQ F lounge at any stations that SQ has an SKL even if you are not flying them. I envy u :)

So in short, in my experience, only the lounge upgrade was not available to me even though I was SQ PPS. Hope this helps

You are too kind... :)
The reason reason I wondered is in case I want to include these codeshares to my trip in the future - it would be nice to get the PPS benefits. I usually travel heavy (checked-in). After all, I want to try these other airlines (like NH, LH) and still get my PPS sectors. :D
