No miles in account. Agent was happy to make booking on hold. Sent me confirmation with PNR and showing hold date 9 days out. She did however say can call before hold deadline expires to extend deadline. Flight, I booked is out 350 days. Ine account had no miles, and she was happy to put on hold on the basis that miles from credit card will come in a few days. The second account had enough miles, but she was happy, even without any questions or hesitation to put the July 2024 booking on hold.
Call was made Sunday 16 July to Singapore Kris Flyer number. First agent transferred to redemption specialist, who I think was in Philippines call center

Also, another DP. Of the 2 accounts I used for redemption bookings and reservation holds, one had no miles so understandable they agreed to hold awaiting mile transfers from CC. However the second booking was from a KF account which had more than required miles, still I was able to get the hold. Before some one asks ( or complains!) I did not want to ticket the from the account which had enough miles as I was using the miles to wailist several other award bookings online

Found availability and needed time for a Mariott transfer. Called the Australian number today and asked if I could place an award on hold, agent reconfirmed “You are waiting for a credit card transfer?” and I just said yes and she proceeded to take details, send me an email and confirm.
Ticketing deadline is one week from today.

Not sure if the agents are lousy if they're just doing what their bosses told them to do. What's lousy is SQ not providing a consistent experience: either allow holds or don't, but not sometimes one and sometimes the other depending on sheer luck. That's most likely poor management, not lousy agents.

hold for multiple people
I am trying to get an agent that will let me place a hold for a booking for three people. so far no luck, but just realized if I do get one, how does this work for other people on the booking. I have a kris flyer account that I just created for myself so that I can transfer Chase rewards over to pay for the booking (will be using my points for all three tickets), but the others do not have accounts. Do I need to have them all create new accounts first, or can they just create the hold with my account. Alternatively can we use their award number from another star alliance partner like United?
Just want to be prepared for when I hopefully get an agent that will create the hold. It's too many points to try transferring without a hold.

Good luck with the award hold...seems to be much less frequently obtained these days.

Tried to get award tickets reserved three times over the hotline, twice calling the Singapore number (Which routed to the Philippines) and once Australia (Which sounded as if it had gone to India). All agents read from the same script: "Sorry Sir, we cannot do this anymore". I then gave up and went to the KF service centre at ION Orchard, where they managed to sort it out without any trouble. Honestly, I would not know what to do anymore if I was not living in Singapore.

I had no success so have given up even though the award space still exists all these days later. 🤷♂️
it was for premium economy seats but the reviews lately all seem to pretty down on their product so I guess I’ll pay the fare on another carrier.

Admittedly, it's late. But I just tried US Call Center and got told, "upon checking our policy we can no longer put award redemptions on hold." I said are you sure? I've done it before. And they replied, "our policies are always changing."
So HUCA x4 and got the same agent every time.

I ended up getting the award booked about an hour later. When I kept HUCA, and would have my points balance read it eventually said the magic number, even though they didn’t show online. So I got the same incompetent agent to book the flight for me instead.
