How "clever" is Krisflyer's mileage expiry policy?
Let's say I earned 100k KF miles in January 2018 and I redeemed these for a flight costing 100k in March 2020 for travel in January 2021.
I then earned 150k KF miles in June 2020 and in the same month redeemed those for a flight costing 150k KF miles in July 2020 for travel in July 2020 which went ahead.
Let's then assume I am going to have to cancel the January 2021 flight and get 100k KF miles refunded.
Will KF say (1) those miles were earned in January 2018 and will thus expire this month? Or will they say (2) the last 100k KF miles you earned were in June 2020 so will expire in June 2023?

Do the oldest miles always get used first? If so, the remaining 100K miles should have the new expiry date. Even though he earned and spent 150K miles in the same month, using the oldest miles first on the 150K trip would mean that the remaining 100K miles should get the new date.

think of this way. Every mile you earn has its own trace from earning to redeeming, to finally utilised.
