Question NRT-SIN: ANA vs SQ in Economy

Deciding whether to fly on NH801 or SQ11 to Singapore from Tokyo-Narita. SQ seems to be using their refitted 77W while ANA is now using the 787-10 with their newest Y seats on the route. Haven't flown on both products before and am wanting to get opinions of those who have flown either one, especially the new Y seats on ANA's 787-10. If so, how are they compared to SQ's 77W? IFE is not really a big factor as I plan on resting for most of the flight.

Without intending to sound elitist, to me economy is economy (when comparing all the skytrax 5-star airlines). I would fly whichever has the better price and schedule / flight timing.

9 across on 787 vs 9 across on the wider 777? I’d take the SQ 777 for the width of the seats alone. But I do have broad shoulders.

No more ANA B787-10 from 27 Oct 2019 onwards. Change to B777-300ER for NH801/NH802.

Take Japan Airlines Economy Class to NRT is best option. The meal tray has more food and there is Japanese Sake & Plum wine. Seat is also wider. The food on ANA has very small portion. Not filling. SQ Economy class does not have Japanese Sake, plum wine. Only for SQ Business Class, that's why it's overrated.

Does every second thread need to push the line that SQ is overrated?

JAL offer Sake and Plum wine. SQ offer Singapore Slings? People have different tastes.

All three (NH, JL and SQ) have good economy offerings, the main watch out is for 9 across on 787 or 10 across on 777 (which JL and SQ don’t have and NH doesn’t use between SIN and TYO).

Personally, I put JL ahead of SQ on the "overrated" scale

Though the JL SkyWider seat is pretty much industry leading. While the NH 789 on this route has 34" pitch in Y which is also pretty awesome.

Agree, probably slightly more space on the SQ flight.

However both are decent. What I would base my decision on is price and timing. Especially if you are going to Tokyo, NRT is very far from the city vs HND.

Convenience vs comfort for me on this route out of the two.
