Troubleshooting "regulatory document expiry date is missing"

When attempting an online checkin within the relevant window, I get this message on the website : "regulatory document expiry date is missing". I have verified that travel document expiry dates are correctly entered and non-null. I got on the phone with website support but they couldn't figure out the culprit. I was advised to check-in physically at the airport.

I am curious if anyone else has encountered this error before?
