Singapore Airlines Exercises Options for Boeing 777-200ERs
SEATTLE, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Singapore Airlines signed a definitive agreement exercising options for 10 777-200ERs (Extended Range), The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA - news) confirmed today.
This is a new order not previously accounted for in cumulative order totals published by Boeing on Dec. 15. This order brings the number of orders for 1999 to 378 airplanes.
The Boeing Company and Singapore Airlines announced in June that the airline would exercise 10 options from a major 777 order placed in November 1995. The signing announcement today confirms that decision.
The original order -- 34 orders and 43 options -- was placed just five months after the world's newest and most advanced jetliner family entered service. Singapore Airlines selected the 777-200ER -- the world's longest-range jetliner -- to serve ultra-long-range routes between Singapore and European destinations.

Beginning in 1990, airlines worldwide helped Boeing develop the 777 so it would be the preferred airplane in its class. The result was an airplane that was bigger, faster, more reliable, more spacious and more comfortable than any other airplane in its class. To date, 30 customers worldwide have placed orders for 446 777s -- including this order.
