Silkair to Hiroshima

New flight starting October. Seems to not have attracted any chatter on this forum? Wonder why it is MI and not full fledged SQ.

I personally am glad for another Japan destination without having to fly into another city, then connect by train.

I guess more leisure oriented so that's why Silkair with the lower operating cost 737s. Shame though, a long trip crammed into a narrow body, although slightly shorter than SIN-CNS.

The entire flight is going to take 6h45min, compared to 5h30min on SQ to KIX, because of the smaller plane.

The outbound flight is a red eye, so not so bad, but the return is a day flight. Good luck trying to spend that time without IFE, and poorer everything compared to SQ.

I'm actually heading to that area (Western Honshu) in autumn, but would rather fly to KIX than to take this direct flight.

Ithought SQ to KIX should be around 6 hours 15 mins or so.

Good point about IFE. Agree those onboard iPads in J are horrible, or having to watch limited entertainment on your own tablet or phone for the journey.

The last time I took this route on SQ, the actual flight time was 5h 30 min. We arrived 60 min ahead of schedule.

So yeah if comparing apples to apples, it should be 6h45min to HIJ on a B737Max, vs 6h40min to KIX on a A333 (timings as per schedule).

Actual distance is 4753km to HIJ vs 4908km to KIX.

They have not started ticket sales, so not sure if the tickets are avail for redemption.

In any case, I dont want to waste my KF miles on MI.

Quite true, unless it's a city I need to visit.

I’m thinking of flying MI to HIJ. But with the grounding of 737MAX aircraft, is this route being replaced with MI’s “normal” 737 with their “nothing to shout about” J seats that don’t recline too well?

Yeap, all the flights are operated with the normal 737-800s.. the MGx series.
