JFK_SIN or EWR_SIN J class

a friend of mine needs to fly NY to mel after XMAS using pts

obviously no seats NY MEL on UA
so thought about the NY FRA SIN 747 but found a seat on the EWR SIN direct
which would be more comfy? the 747 is 2.5 hrs longer.
any advice appreciated.

There was a seat from EWR-SIN? Really?

I would go with the A345 that operates the EWR-SIN route since it is J configured aircraft. The A345 has the new C seats and I don't think the 747 does.

Easy choice for me other than a lame lounge at EWR.

EWR, no question about it unless you can spare some more pts to book F on SQ25.

Definitely EWR as it has the latest J seats.... JFK has the 747 with old J spacebeds... Similar to UA F transcon seats.

Surprised your friend can use miles on EWR unless it is SQ miles in which case it will be more miles than JFK-SIN.

Just FYI, for some reason SQ has opened up ALOT of availability in J for the A380, A345, and 77W flights to BD. It's very, very strange that only BD can see and book these flights because they don't show up with other carriers (ANA, LH, etc.). Example:

Code:
** BRITISH MIDLAND INTERNATIONA - AD ** SIN SINGAPORE.SG 165 SU 26FEB 0000
 1 SQ 021 I2 /EWR B SIN 2300 0640+2E0.345 18:40
NO MORE LATER FLTS 26FEB EWR SIN

** BRITISH MIDLAND INTERNATIONA - AD ** SIN SINGAPORE.SG 162 TH 23FEB 0000

I was just able to ticket SQ37 using BD miles

EWR-SIN, no doubts about it... The experience must be something. Longest non-stop scheduled flight and the aircrafts are fully fitted with the new business seats.

So that's 150,000 miles for SIN-EWR return?

Wow, I've been itching to try EWR-SIN, but with no KF miles, I'm out of luck. Now that there's a BD option, that's very interesting...

Correct, or the Cash and Miles equivalent (much better deal)

These guys are talking KrisFlyer miles as this is the SQ thread. There is no such thing as cash + miles (like on BD DC) here. There isn't even a so called Saver award for those routes meaning if you can snatch the seats using another *A FFP miles other than Kris Flyer you would be able to redeem for half the miles than a KF member can before even thinking about cash + miles in the case of BD miles.

ANA automatically screens out KF inventory on A345/77W/A388, if you look.

First class and business class Flight Awards cannot be used on some aircraft models (A380, B777-300ER, and A340-500) operated by Singapore Airlines. Please take note of this.
I think it possible LH does something similar since they have a deal with SQ where M&M elite members can book SQ inventory at standard award levels on the A388/77W (2x saver levels).

I would bet money that SQ is actually throwing this inventory open to all of *A, instead of just BD- it's just the tools we normally use like ANA can't see it. (I've already seen reports of people being able to book HKG-SIN-SYD on A388 C). Anyone want to try Aeroplan?
