Waitlist Question

Hi all,

Never flown SQ before, but I was looking to go to NRT this summer so I thought I would see what is available in F as the LAX-NRT flight is one of the few that actually allow you to use a sane amount of miles. Much to my shock I was able to find a saver seat for the return to LAX, but not for the outbound but they were offering a waitlist for that seat. How likely is it that that seat would become available by July?

Alternatively, I found an outbound flight from LAX-NRT on the date I wanted on United J, would I be allowed to combine that with the SQ F return? Or would I be able to waitlist for the SQ F outbound while holding the confirmed United J outbound?

I recognize that the difference between SQ F and United J is significant, but its at least the flatbed seats on United and at least I would get there in some degree of comfort if things didn't work out as planned.

If you're booking with UA points, you cannot waitlist for the SQ flight.

If the above question pertains with using UA MP, then maybe you'd better ask about the combination award F/J in the UA forum than here?
