Finnair / JAL - Tier Points

Has anyone credited a JAL Business Class booking class I (or any other class) to Finnair Plus since the 1 May 2026 earning changes?

The JAL earning table shows
  • Business Class I = 250% avios multiplier
  • Finnair Plus Platinum = 100% tier point multiplier
What I'm struggling to understand is whether this means Business, First and Economy all effectively earn the same number of tier points per mile (i.e, just 100% if platinum)? with only the Avios differing.

The reason I'm questioning it is because (1) that sounds rather odd and punitive and (2) JAL's reciprocal update for JMB members refers to a FLY ON Mile-Up bonus on Finnair flights, which suggests status multipliers are applied on top of base earning rather than replacing it.

Has anyone got a real post-May-2026 example?

This was briefly discussed in AY plus mileage runs and sweet spots (with the conclusion that the worst interpretation was the valid one) but no actual experience, so let's see if someone did try it!

I am also curious about something, if i fly a JAL domestic flight that was booked as a part of an round-trip together with other Finnair flights, do i still get tier and Avios points for that JAL flight?

I've had 2x JL flights since the change.
#1 was a JL op but CX L ticket that yielded 50% milage.
#2 a domestic JL I ticket yielded 370% milage.

My upcoming data point will be still around 5 weeks out and will only be a short domestic flight, but I will report back about the earnings.

So that would mean it actually is X+Y. (#2)
Or actually international flight miles + even extra 20%. Make sense...

But, was both Adios and tier points or bonus for only tier points actually?
#1 was CX ticket so, that would not be counted in this context anyway...?

Can you provide more details on this flight?
Flight number, city pair, and Avios / tier points accrued?

Correct, with a CX marketed JL operated flight, earning would be based on the CX table and thus unrelated to this discussion

JAL mileage program operates very different compared to Finnair,so I would not go this route of reading into JAL program changes and applying the concept to Finnair Plus ...

Points from domestic JL flight taken on 24th May posted today and still trying to make sense of them.

AY issued ticket and AY Plat
AOJ-HND as JL148, booked as part of AOJ-HND-HEL-MAN on PE flex ticket, AOJ-HND in economy however ticket receipt shows as 'E' class. This doesn't make sense for domestic, but could if for some reason this ended up in international Prem Econ bucket.

Now for the Avios and Tier points
Distance I make out to be 361 miles however received 279 avios and 279 tier points, so approx. 75%

As it's only a small number of points will follow up CS to see if they can provide the reasoning/breakdown, not holding out much hope

Yes details of YacozA flight # 2 and confirmation of whether tier v av would be very interesting. I can't make 370% make sense in any way.

The question here is, AY codeshare or not? This is quite relevant.

No, operated and marketed as JL148. Stated as such on eTicket.
if code share I would have expected a somewhat random number based on spend breakdown per segment

E was 70% before 01MAY. 🤔
It is E from the "international" table despite it being domestic. International table is almost always valid since JAL have another reservation system for purely domestic flights.
