The Shambles of BA 1466 Last Night [14 May 2026]

Was anyone else subjected to the farce that ensued with this service from LHR to EDI last night ?

After numerous EDI cancellations this the last flight of the day eventually made it's way up to Edinburgh at most 2/3 full - why didn't they utilise capacity from earlier disruptions to fill the aircraft ?

It was supposed to leave at 2150 but didn't get airborne till after midnight - perhaps the "hotel and flight tomorrow" were the lucky ones ?

First there was a bag problem then numerous "headset anomalies"

The most annoying thing is that they are unable to take ownership of the situation and ameliorate passengers in some manner - ie a free drink in Y or half price to maintain stocks ?

The Crew including the Captain seem unable or unwilling to think outside the box - after 2 hours shouldn't we have been entitled to a refreshment voucher ?

Worst aspect was they got off the hook for compensation as we only ended up 2 hours 20 minutes late !!

All I will get (hopefully) is my 94 Taxi Fare back to Falkirk due to the 0125 arrival time.

I must say the most traumatising part of your experience is ending up in Falkirk

Lots of weather delays yesterday. Arrived 4h late to Dublin. But had a great view of planes taking off in the rain whilst we waited, and the crew started service on the ground.

They did not even offer water in ET? In my experience, cabin crew always pass around water when there is a substantial delay. Otherwise, I am not sure what they could have offered.

Yeah - captain should have ignored the issues and ATC and just gone for it. You'd have been home on time then

No, the captain should have got their credit card out and brought everyone a coffee from Pret.

Crew dont have the ability to decide to give out ET BOB stock free of charge. Not even the Captain. The stock is not owned by BA, rather by Tourvest who manage all the Duty Free/Buy on Board sales.
Delay packs can be requested which contain extra waters/snacks but its likely that multiple requests for these by a number of flights means it takes a while to get to you. Its also likely to contain the same snacks as what we pass out free anyway.

Majority of delay was nothing to do with ATC - staff incompetence by handling agent and ground crew.

The majority of the delay was due to the late arrival of the incoming aircraft due to the weather in the LHR area.

It took the normal time to get down from GLA we were onboard for well over an hour before it took off.

The only part of the delay I can see that looks like what you call “shambles” was an issue with the headset (24 minutes), late running aircraft and non showing passengers are a common issues when there are weather delays.

so why do you think you were not allowed to depart for an hour after everyone was onboard?

At least you got there. I once spent the night on the floor in T5 when the last flight up of the day was cancelled, and all the hotels were full (because loads of other flights had been cancelled too). I know you'll feel hard done by, its hard not to, but until you have been royally shafted you won't be calibrated against the worst it could actually be :P

Because they had locked the hold door and the ground crew had gone away. It later transpired that a bag was onboard but not it's owner.

They had to wait for someone to come back and retrieve it Rest was the headset malfunctions.
