AA/QR - SFO/LAX-JRO - $1215+ USD r/t - Premium Economy

This fare is a few weeks old, but I've had better stuff to post so haven't had a chance to post this - American Airlines (AA) - San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX) - $1215 roundtrip in premium economy. The domestic flights and flight from PHL to DOH is operated by AA, and the segments beyond Doha are operated by Qatar Airways (QR). This fare doesn't have specific routing rules, just a maximum permitted mileage of 11700 miles, so you could try to route through another oneworld hub, but I have not tried this (the fare rules state that travel in Area 2 must be operated by QR, so if you fly to Madrid for example, you'll have to fly QR in economy MAD-DOH-JRO).

Ticket must be issued by May 31, 2024. Depart Jan 11 to May 9, 2025. Minimum stay is 7 days. Up to 5 stopovers allowed - 1 in DOH free in each direction, 1 in LON free in each direction, and 1 in the US at $150 USD.

SFO-PHL-DOH-JRO-DOH-PHL-SFO
23006 Miles | $1215 USD Roundtrip
5.2812 cents USD per Mile Flown

Crediting to Alaska
15923 Elite Qualifying Miles (Cost per EQM - 7.6305 cents USD)

Crediting to British Airways
280 Tier Points (Cost per TP - $4.34 USD / 3.41 GBP)

Crediting to Iberia
1140 Elite Points (Cost per Point - $1.07 cents USD / 0.98 EUR) (50% of the way to Oro status, or oneworld Sapphire)

An issue with that is QRPC accounts are sticky on QR flights, so adding a QRPC number to up to J would defeat the purpose of TP/EP/EQM earning elsewhere.

No, given these are AA*/QR codeshare flights. QR T&C clearly state that flights must be marketed and operated by QR, as well as issued on 157- stock to be eligible for upgrades with Avios.

QR marketed flights price fine with this fare, no codeshare required. Also 157 stock is allowed per the rules.

Are you sure of that? The T fare is economy with Qatar.

I don't see any premium economy fares filed by Qatar in ExpertFlyer (not that it's perfect) either.

Using the AA fare not a QR fare. The AA fare allows QR stock (see category 15 and 12 of the rules). It'd have to be explicitly selected as AA would be the default.

Matrix example with QR prime segments on the AA fare (as allowed in category 4):

Most AA/QR fares allow this due to a strategic partnership they currently have.

Yeah, this makes sense. AA marketed with QR flight numbers. I misunderstood. I was looking for a QR fare because you had said QR marketed.

Thanks for the clarification!

Does it drop you off on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro or at the bottom - makes a difference in whether I'll buy it or not.

Ah I see the confusion now. QR flight number means QR marketed, so AA marketed with a QR flight number doesn't make sense.
