British Airways will launch its first ever flight to Tromsø, Norway, this winter.Operating from 1 December 2024, Tromsø will become the airlines most northernly destination globally and is available for customers to book now.
The Norwegian city is known as being one of the best places in the world to see the aurora borealis, thanks to its central position in the northern lights oval. With average winter temperatures ranging from 0°C to -5°C, the destinations abundant snowfall also lends itself to winter activities including skiing, mountaineering and whale watching.

Good news, but I'd dearly like to see Stavanger and Bergen back on the network.

This is a great addition. above the Arctic Circle, having visited there in late May a few years ago, you can experience the everlasting daylight phenomenon. Of course, everlasting night in the winter if you are so inclined. This year Sunlight all day from 18 May to 26 Jul 2024, The Sunrise and Sunset website below is useful. Hopefully, this will roll over to the summer schedule next year, noted it doesn't start until Dec 24, which is a shame.

Have been to Tromso on a work corporate jolly in January about 30 years ago. It was about -20C I recall and we went further north to Alta for 3 nights. Both magical places in the winter, despite the cold, can really recommend them.

Wonderful news, we love visiting northern Norway and even got married up in the Arctic. Will still have to transfer onto Wideroe for the smaller destinations but Tromso is great. Albeit incredibly expensive!

Not sure the appeal of the Northern Lights given that half the country has just seen them for free from the back patio, but I suppose the Arctic magic is special. SAS already announced Heathrow-Tromso the other day so maybe the airport is offering incentives.
