BA Long haul aircraft on short haul routes

Tel-aviv, Madrid, Moscow, and Helsinki are they the only destinations BA fly wide body on short haul? Have i missed any?

If you included the mid haul A321, they get almost anywhere, including domestics. But yes, that list is correct, though Tel Aviv is not a short haul route per se, nor is MOW but there is some intermingling. BEY, AMM, CAI are a similar distance.

In irrops, then all bets are off, I've seen LHR-GLA and LHR-FCO done by 747s when they've got too many passengers for A320s.

When the 787-10 come through, they may do some training trips within Europe, not necessarily MAD.

I wouldn’t be surprised if B788 occasionally pop up on LHR-NCE in the future, but the Trent engine situation would have to be solved first.

Why??? A B788 carries fewer than 20 extra pax over an A321 with even 10 rows of CE!

Extra pax in high season with peak fares and unavailable A321, is significant extra revenue.

BA don't use widebodies to Helsinki. Finnair does though.

Do you think this will actually happen then?

I thought I read that there wouldn’t be any training flights for the 787-10.

Thanks for the correction re Finnair. Apart from BA FInnair and Turkish Airlines to IST. Are there anymore airlines using long haul wide-bodies on short and mid haul that offer full flat business ?

In Europe IB, LX, TP sometimes, EI, LH just to name a few on top of my head.

I presume you're referring to intra European flights? Otherwise you're potentially going to get an incredibly long list of irrelevant posts about flights in other parts of the world.

Hainan Airlines fly their 787 on a triangular route China-EDI-DUB-China which alternates China-DUB-EDI-China on other days.

I think SQ fly their A350 ARN-DME-SIN and v.v but not sure whether you can just purchase the ARN-DME-ARN sectors as a stand alone ticket.

Air Europa deployed their 787 on LGW-MAD most days in July/August in previous few years

But risk to Long haul schedule integrity if French ATC go on strike. Few extra seats (but higher Airport and ATC charges etc) and not a big cargo route so on a regular scheduled basis your wish for it looks unlikely
