The Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is now available to book for arrivals from 1st January, 2012 onwards.

Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi is part of the iconic new Capital Gate building connected to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, just fifteen minutes from the airport. It's surprisingly high, Category 5 hotel, on par with both Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi/Dubai.
Advance purchase rates start at 1200 AED++ per night, which IMHO are not sustainable, although Pisa Tower comparisons will draw some guests. No opening rates.
I wish there would be better pictures out on the website to help decide whether to visit this hotel or not.

GPConcierge, I can't see prices for suites. Is the hotel not 100% operational yet?

I show the hotel offers a Capital suite, Executive suite, Diplomat suite, and Presidential suite. The prices should show up online for guests 01/01/12 and beyond. If you can PM your dates we can take a look at availability for you.

It was supposed to become an Andaz but the owner (the Sheikh) didn't like that name,

Sleek but no Soul (9 Photos)

Hyatt Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi

We returned to Capital Gate for a short overnight stay between flights. We booked the 2 Bedroom Diplomatic Suite instead of two separate rooms.

We scored a great rate booking direct and figured why not for the final night on vacation?

Check In

You arrive on the ground level and the staff take you to the lifts to take you to the lobby on the 18th floor.

We checked in at reception and the Front Office Manager came out to personally escorted us to the room.

Room

Surprisingly, the room was high but not on the top two floors of the hotel. If you're scared of heights than this hotel is not for you as it centres on a large atrium with glass balconies.

Despite this it was beautiful, modern and sleek. You walk into a foyer with a stunning Chandelier, large living room, full Kitchen with Butler's entrance. Each bedroom with full bathroom was on opposite sides of the living room.

Everything in the room is electric, including the blinds. Despite it's modern styling, the air conditioning controls (just like on our last stay) are completely mindboggling. There are no pictures on the buttons to indicate how to control it. I managed to get the room cool by random selection, but they really need to fix this issue as the rooms get hot very quickly.

Dining

We had brekafast in the restaurant where I ordered Eggs Benedict with Turkey Bacon.

The Eggs were, without doubt, the most disgusting breakfast dish I have ever had and spat it out. I decided to eat at the airport instead.

Location

If you are traveling this location is closer and more convenient to AUH. It's no more than a 15 minute drive and had great views over the city and Corniche.

Overall

I really want to like this hotel and although it's modern it's missing soul. It's also much busier than the PH, but convenient for overnight transit.

It is a feat of grand design and the pool on the 18th floor is remarkable, although we didn't get to use it on this stay.

The modern features on the most part work but the air conditioning needs serious attention. The controllers are not user friendly and on our last stay I had to call engineering to get the room below 25 degrees Celsius.

I prefer the feel and ambience of the Park Hyatt and had it not been a one night stay I would have certainly wanted to use the beach.

The suites at the PH as well as the villas feel far more luxurious and authentic with the decor.

The Hyatt Capital Gate is a good hotel but still lacks a little to make it great.

It will be interesting to see how they change it when it's rebranded as an Andaz hotel. One would think it might get more character?

I prefer the new GH over this one. The AC is simply inadequate for the amount of glass each room has. Better location for a short layover though.

I'm guessing they just lighten the room color schemes a bit and call it an Andaz.

Looks like the hotel has officially rebranded to the Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi.
