Maybe some corporate policy aims at keeping the number of cabin crew as low as possible? for two rows more premium seats they might need an aditional cabin crew. Just a guess...

With an overall load factor of 61.7%, it looks as if KLM hasn't really deployed the new aircraft in the most optimal of ways... These numbers already include nonrevenue passengers, so not all of the passengers are actually generating revenue.

Correct, there has been no dynamic deployment at all.
I believe this was done not to cause too much havoc in the crew planning, amongst other reasons that are a bit doubtful IMHO.
Please note that there are more stations in the KLM network that are performing not quite up to their full potential, so to speak. GRU is one example.

Been a reader for months and I have been a huge fan of HB-IWC topics I decided to join up,

On topic

I fly AMS - JRO or DSM at least twice a month and I have been wondering why there is no bigger bird flying this sector. It is always packed (and a belly full of freight)

I spoke to station manager about the future change to the 772ER and he said that they would send something bigger in the near future but he would not tell me what. So any chances this bird is going to be on the cash cow route to DAR/JRO? Or is a 747 planned?

The AMS JRO DAR AMS route will be upgraded to a daily B772ER effective Monday, June 16. Before that, there will be a frequency reduction in April (5 weekly MD11) and May (6 weekly MD11). For now, the B772ER is planned to be on the route until December 06. After that, the MD11 is programmed again for the rest of the winter season.

New WBC product in 777-300 ?

This month I read in the KLM inflight magazine that the WBC in the new 777-300 has full flat beds instead of the 170-degree version which is installed in the 777-200.

can anyone confirm?
any pictures or details available?

on KLM website nothing is mentioned (yet).

DXB-AMS-DXB, very unpleasant experience on KLM's new 777-300 with 10 seats abreast. Not sure being 6ft 3 how KLM expects me to sit in these seats, found it totally impossible to get comfortable. Happy that the flight was relatively short, feel bad for people flying this configuration on longer flights. KLM claims that other carriers offer the same setup, but what they forget to mention is that the others (like Emirates) offer 33-34 inches of legroom, while KLM believes that 31 inches are more than sufficient. They're not selling the last couple of rows in Economy at the moment while they await feedback from travellers, so hope they listen (for once) and either improve the legroom or put only 9 seats next to each other. Emirates is rumoured to start servicing Amsterdam in Q4 2008, will gladly put my business that way. Very bad experience."

Does somebody has the exact seatpitch for the Y class in the 77W of KLM?
Is it decreasing from front to back, wit 34 inches in the front and 31 inches in the back or is it just 31 inches cabin wide? If 31 inches cabin wide, where has KLM wasted the space because in the same space KLM puts 42 row of Y while Emirates place 41. This difference can easily be compensated by the fact that between doors 2 and 5 emirates puts 11 lavs while KLM only puts 7(they put some between door 1 and 2, emirates doesn't have the space there because of an enlarged J cabin.) If we speak of 42 rows with 34 inches and 42 rows of 31, that means 42*3 inches, or 126 inches(more than 3 meters!!!). Where has KLM wasted those space???
