Thank you! Much better alternative than booking 3 hotel rooms. I appreciate the info.

I just wanted to see if my gut or barometer regarding London hotels was set correctly.
Yeah its very dull hotel, i live in London and must admit the hotels are overpriced for the size of the rooms! no matter where you stay here.

It was a nice hotel but its very dated now i feel the once cutting edge minimalist rooms are now more like an IKEA bedroom than a 5* hotel and the staff are rather rude and the met bar was over a long time ago, but on the plus size nobu has a nice view of the park , as do most the rooms. and i love the green glass

I'm a big fan of The Halkin, too, and even prefer it over One Aldwych. It's more intimate and the rooms, IMHO, are more comfortable. (That said, I'd be happy to stay at either.)

I asked a similar question about a year ago and got some good suggestions (similar to what is posted here)...and we ended up staying at The Capital which we were very happy with (booked by FTer DavidO, a Virtuoso agent) -- a small, more boutique-like hotel, just down the street from Harrod's, where they called us by name the whole weekend, we had wonderful meals, and the room was quite comfortable.

I think location is an important factor in London -- will you be walking around, and if so, where? do you want to be near a tube stop? etc. So advise taking that into consideration as well, since there are so many fine hotels to choose from.

Another vote for One Aldwych.

Perfect balance between 5 star hotel and hip hotel!

Another vote for the Halkin you can walk to Buckingham palace and harrods and sloane st is 5mins away and hyde park is 2 streets away, and you get a table at nobu park lane with no wait! and of course dinner at Nahm london’s only Michelin-starred Thai with no cab home.

and if you join tablet hotels plus you will get:

For Tablet Plus Members:
every stay at The Halkin automatically includes the select privileges and/or amenities.
Complimentary upgrade upon check-in, based on availability
Guaranteed 4 o'clock check-out
One glass of champagne or cocktail, per guest, upon arrival
Complimentary internet access

Moonbeam, what's your experience with upgrades at the Halkin as a Tablet Plus member? I ask because I stayed there a couple of years ago on a LHW reservation, and as a Leaders Club member should have been upgraded (based on availability) but was not, despite a specific request from LHW and the facts that it was my birthday and the hotel was not full.

How about traveling with an infant? Which of these would be best? Large room or junior suite $800-1000/night (or less, of course).

>"Try the MO great location and nice staff."

That's true, but the major construction project next door is so noisy that it is very disconcerting and can ruin one's sleeping late.

My favorite is The Stafford, especially their new penthouse suites. The concierge staff and the service are the best. Their restaurant is excellent and their American Bar is a classic.

You're right about the MO, but I took a look at The Stafford and wasn't impressed. Thank you anyway!

Am now considering:

- Covent Garden Hotel
- Haymarket Hotel
- One Aldwych

I think I want to try the Haymarket.

Since I was the one to recommend The Haymarket I will say I really enjoyed my stay there this past Oct. Usually I stay at One Aldwych but it was booked when I needed to go to London. The Haymarket was a refreshing change. Service was great. Location is awesome near Trafalgar Square and the decor really won me over. It is eclectic but functional.

Stay at the Haymarket and go to the Covent Garden for dinner. Went there and had a very nice meal.

I plan on making it my hotel of choice in London. Also I think it has only been open for a short time.
