You sure are having a field day with this, sbagdon. I obviously missed the thread preceding this one.

Any updates as to actual experiences in using these? Did anyone receive EQM/RDM? Is there a cash value as with the normal VDB free ticket voucher?

I'm curious .How did actually you get the cert from?
I mean is it because of the electrical problem you got the cert by error or because of the electrical problem your flight was delayed and you got the cert? OR ..... ?

Oh, sorry. Electrical problems on a DC-10 caused a delay of 23 hours, and as a result, the ticketing computer spit out DB410s for the F pax. It wasn't an electrical problem with the ticketing computer (as far as I know!).

ALMOST everything else you need to know about a DB410...

There is now - I just used mine!

Notes:
  • The agent (Minneapolis center, GE/PE line) enjoyed the party.
  • The DB410 was a new thing to her, too.
  • She said the booking process was different/harder than usual.
  • She had me hang on while she got a few things sorted out.
  • She did not ask me to mail in the paper cert. ^
  • I did still have to pay the $10 taxes/fees.
  • It all showed up in "my reservations" right away. ^

Around the 15th of December, when I get back from visiting family and going to the DC Air & Space Museum mini-DO, I hope to be able to report on whether I got any EQM, RDM, EUA, IFE, NWA, TSA, VDB, T&A, or whatever out of the deal.

I'm doing HNL-LAX on DL (paid for entirely with a bump voucher, with money left over) and will end up way over the 120K EEP threshold as a result, so I won't need miles from the NWA portion of the trip.

No. This is a "use-it-or-lose-it" that's good only for a free K-bucket fare RT within US48/Alaska/Canada/Mexico/Caribbean, or within Asia/Micronesia. And I'll finish my travel about 2 weeks before it would have expired. Go, me!

Oh, and hey, from the end of the recorded voice until the GE/PE agent answered was a whole twenty-five seconds! That's about 5 times longer than usual - are they having staffing issues at the call center?

(Then I had to call DL back and ask them why I couldn't retrieve my DL itinerary on their web site... *sigh* Turns out the DL call-center agent decided that my last name should be spelled differently on the ticket than it was on the DL-issued electronic voucher I was using to pay for the ticket! Somehow I think her "creative" streak doesn't help in this line of work... )

Unless they've trained the Indians in very convincing Atlanta-area African-American accents, I was consistently lucky. "Eileen" got creative with the spelling, "Shaneeka" helped me figure out the mistake and forwarded me to the reissue department, and a thoroughly non-accented gentleman there rather quickly set things right.

Of course, it goes without saying that the good folks on NW's GE/PE line don't mix things up in the first place. Which has to do with why they're the stuff of legends, viewed as the creme de la creme in a business where cluefulness and fluent English are the exception rather than the rule, and customers throw parties for them! ^

Please tell me what number you called and at what time of day . Usually, whenver I call DL (800-221-1212? or 2121? I always call the wrong one) it's after a long day at work, i.e. 8pm PT. Hence I always get stuck talking to someone in an Indian call center, and unfortunately I have found the service to be quite poor. There are linguistic barriers, and the fact that they have to put me on hold for 10 minutes to figure out how to input a NW FF#, and another 10 minutes to ask their supervisor if it's really OK to give me an exit seat on DL78. It drives me nuts. I would love to be talking to someone at ATL any day.

ifette, YGPM.

(This has wandered sufficiently far from relevance to NW WP that if we kept it up in here, TheZipper would scold us at the mini-DO! )

I underlined the key restrictions in the Other Discount section: Can't earn WorldPerks miles, and "WP ELITE CARE AND ELITE COMPANION UPGRADES" are also not permitted.

I called WP to find out what "WP ELITE CARE" meant, and the agent said she thought it probably meant no EUAs and no mileage upgrades, and that she didn't get the full fare rules to look at, but apparently she had something more concise/clear, which said that yeah, EUAs aren't permitted. She did, however, say that if there was space available, there was always the chance they'd upgrade me at the airport anyway.

Anyway, at the very least, I got a $300-or-so K-bucket transcon for $10, so the DB410 was useful. And as I said somewhere else, I shouldn't need any miles for it to put me over the 120K EEP threshold.

Once I've traveled, I will report back on how the KFREE/DB410 flights show up (if they show up at all) in my WorldPerks account summary, and things like that.

I like that it books into K, but I'd much rather have the $300 ECV. EQM and EUA make them worth much more to me. Of course this year, I've only managed an actual VDB on DL. My VDB on NW evaporated when the flight (oversold by 16) went mechanical and a bunch of pax had to be rebooked because of missed connections.

I agree that dollar-value ECVs are more useful. Of course, I got one of those too (a $200) from the same incident... And the HNL-LAX RT portion of my ITO-HNL-LAX-MSP-EWR and back was paid for with a $400 DL ECV...

Even the old free ticket/$250 value would be worth more to me. I end up doing MRs to requalify for SE.

On a similar note. I had a RT V-Class ticket (DTW-SIN) booked from a student website, and I earned 250EQM per segment (was not happy). Sent a TTU just in case, and they knew it was booked as a student fare, and there was nothing I could do.

I'm still wondering if I should try phoning a couple of times and see if any of the phone agents will credit me those miles.
