What do you think insurance is for? Why do you think people use and are willing to pay for credit cards with enchanced insurance for? Because they fell sorry for the card issuer and want them to make more money? Citi them self toutes "Enchanced Insurance Benfits" as one of the benfits of the card. Amex claims buyers protection is a benfit of being a card member. I am not doing anything wrong. I dont tell the housekeeper to ruin my sweeters. I dont damage property on purpose. I am not commiting any fraud what so ever. Credit card issuers use there insurance benfits as "reasons to use there card over another or cash" what is wrong with taken advantage of "so called benfit"?

taking advantage of the "benefit" is how costs go up....lots of people take advantage of this benefit illegaly..not saying that you are though.....

and you are right about the insurance....not like I wake up in the morning, get in my 750 and haul A** and not have a care in the world since I have "INSURANCE".....

I do not do the above since I do not want to wreck my car and not have MY car to drive for the next few weeks.....I drive carefully so that I do not pay higher premiums to insurance company...which leads me to my point at the top....."to take advantage of a "benefit" leads to higher costs....

but I guess I just think differently.....

charter member Chaiman AMEX

Am a charter member amex chairman card. Received it today. The concierge that they use is the same as the centurion (CIRCLES highest level). so if the concierge is a big part of what you use chairman for it is well worth it. I also beleive they will keep adding benefits because the card has you name on it plus it says CHARTER MEMBER. will keep you updated on the service of this card.

Welcome to Flyertalk.

Sorry, but I don't understand the connection between the "Charter Member" fluff and your belief that the card benefits will be expanded. Please explain further. Also, if anyone who reads this has any general purpose credit card that does not display their name, please tell us about it.

MIA -- I think he may be right about the circle personal concierge... I'm not sure, however... As for the Charter member and thus association with new bene's... I don't see that, but whatever

Citibank issued Drivers Edge card. If you got it when it first came out you were a "Charter Member" only thing that was good for was when they changed the program and reduced the rewards because your were a "Charter Member" your rewards structure and earning did not change at all. But they did not give Charter Members new benfits or anything like that.

Update called my PB and asked about card and told him some one on the interest posted he had the card etc.

If you are issued a "Charter Memeber" Card then you $5 million + in managed money via a retail SB branch. Charter Member Cards have no annual fee and are issued to all people who used to get free MC version which was old level called "Private Wealth Management" before Smith Barney got rid of all these levels at SB. SB retail branches now only have 3 levels Basic Customer under $100K, Prefered Client under $500K and Reserved Client over $500K.

Private Bank customers never were coded "Private Wealth Management" clients as Private Bank customers are commerial bank customers vs SB customers are brokerage and Managed Money clients.

It is CIRCLES concierge because the return address that is included inside the welcome kit for the concierge stuff is addressed to Citi Chairmain Concierge - CIRCLES and it has the address to CIRCLES main office.. From what theyve told me, They are only releasing this card to certian people right now in phases so even if you have a mastercard chairman card right now does not mean you can upgrade now. Hoping to see who else on the forum get this card in the near future.

With the new changes to Thank You Program Fixed point redems World points is no longer looking so bad.

BOA will waive the Accolade Card annual with bonus benfits with $200K in assets who benfits are same as Chairman Card except no flight points. But BOA fixed point redemtions now have a higher hard limit making the possibility of those points bening more valuable.

TYN Fixed Flight Redemption Changes!

dolmar said: With the new changes to Thank You Program Fixed point redems World points is no longer looking so bad.

When did these changes come it to effect??? I just checked TYN website and they now have ticket price restrictions for redemptions! It also says effective these changes will be effective July 15, 2007. I tried calling them up for redemptions and it seemed they are applying these new redemption policies right away. Can anyone add more to this?

I saw the post in TYP thread on here.

Like I said above the Accolade card sure is looking better and better by the minute. BOA waives the annual fee with $200K in assets and the card has the same benfits as Chairman card except for flight points.

Chairman card requires $500K(partial waiver or full waiver) and TYP fixed redemtion is no longer as genorous as BOA worldpoints.

Dolmar,

Can you post the redemption levels of the Bank of America Accolades card for comparison purposes to the ThankYou Network. I qualify for the accolades card and am highly interested in it if the reward redemptions are better as you say then the ThankYou network.

You hit the nail on the head....this is what it makes it better...I will charge 200k this yr on my chairman card.... so I will earn a min of 400k points..with the flight points....add the select spend poitns and it makes the devaluation pretty much a wash.....at least for Chairman cardholders....
