Rebooking, rerouting, and refund policy due to Gulf Conflict

I have a Qatar airways flight booked using IB ticket on codeshare from MXP to CGK.

Flights from Milan covered by EU261 but not the return. No travel insurance cover as war/hostilities excluded.

Has IB issued a policy on rebooking/rerouting for such flights?

Prefer not to rely on Qatar airways to fix and understand cannot do anything until flight cancelled.

I would prefer to travel and there are a range of options on one world carriers as well as others.

Any advice welcome

Seems to suggest any IB-plated sector, including IB codeshares, can be rebooked, refunded, or rerouted 150km.

But if I'm reading it correctly, rebooking only on IB. So CX options, etc. not available without going the EC261 route.

Just take a full refund and book a new ticket with your preferred carrier. Much easier than gerting IB to rebook OAL.

Certainly if you're spending OPM and definitely need to go.

Otherwise I imagine that alternative routes will have ridiculous prices and/or will be full as other travellers book alternative routes between Europe and Asia.

I had booked MXP - SIN and HKG - ARN on the Iberia website both via Doha. My flights were on 02/03 and 06/03 respectively.
I called Iberia a few days before the 02/03 right when the situation began. The agents were really helpful given the situation, also they were superbly patient and got me tickets on other airlines almost immediately. On the outward leg, I asked for a reroute to KUL, which was accepted and on the return I asked LHR, which was again accepted with no questions asked. My final routing was LIN - CDG (AZ) CDG - KUL (MH) and HKG - LHR (CX).
The only issue I found was sometimes their availability on other airlines doesn't match to what you find on your own online. Hope this helps.

My flight (15th March) was on QR under IB codeshare MXP-DOH-CGK. I called IB yesterday and was advised nothing could be done till closer to departure.

I decided to call again today and was offered a range of alternatives mostly involving a LHR. Was booked MXP-LHR-KUL-CGK using BA BA MH.

I arrive 18 hours earlier than planned.

must say dealing with the agent was painless. They could not have been more helpful and answered the call in less than 5 minutes. Brilliant service

Reassuring to know that you have the backup from IB. May I ask are in business or economy? What di they do in regards to your return flights?

Business Class and nothing on the return as its out of the time frame. I am relaxed about that for the moment in part because of how they handled today.

I was offered Oman Air outbound but declined. Might not be so easy on the way back but staying in CGK easier, safer and cheaper than Middle East.

Just spoken to Iberia as I need to reroute my return flight on the 28th.

while they are happy to refund or re route via an active war zone, there was an absolute refusal to reroute on any other airline even one world.

There was a pretence that they could not see flights which were visible on both ITA Matrix and the airlines web site. In my case Cathay Pacific. They claimed they could not see them despite having full access to their reservation system. They simply lied!

On my travel dates seats in business class are available on JAL, Cathay, Malaysian and others back to Europe.

What was the re-route they offered?
since you were able to re-route your outbound with OAL maybe you just had bad luck with the agent, try calling again. You have plenty time still before the 28th.

Your return flight is not cancelled; hence IB will not reroute. QR has the same practice. Wait until your flight is cancelled.
