The forecast here in NY is for sun on Tuesday, even if it’s -10c after wind chill. Am getting rebooked for Tuesday night as I type. Am just hoping that sufficient planes and crew will be here!

Just got a notification that my Tuesday 24th LHR-JFK has been cancelled (BA173) looks like a few others too but interestingly some of the early morning flights still showing as scheduled (for now?). Assume this is weather related but could the be another reason?

Most likely trying to recover the operation as only an handful left London yesterday and none today, so they are trying to get aircraft out there to recover the backlog inbound though his and if this happens tomorrow with deicing at jfk and the operation trying to recover remains to be seen how it pans out so keep a close eye on your booking.

BA203 BOS = WEAN due to storm on Eastern seaboard. Same for the other services.
BA239 BOS
BA213 BOS
BA183 JFK
BA179 JFK
BA113 JFK
BA115 JFK
BA177 JFK
BA173 JFK
BA175 JFK
BA117 JFK
BA189 EWR
BA185 EWR
BA67 PHL

Just 617 departures from LHR today, all transatlantic airlines were affected. 321 departures with BA, so not hugely down. 93% punctuality, given the lower workload.

Afternoon Operational Update:
Landing RWY: 27R
Airborne holding (mins): 3
Departure RWY: 27L
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Network: Aerodromes: EGCC (Manchester) Arrivals regulated due to aerodrome capacity. Moderate delays.
EHAM (Amsterdam) Arrivals regulated due to weather (strong winds). Moderate delays.
Airspace: No significant delays.

Weather: Cloud moves in during the afternoon with some patchy rain or drizzle. Gentle to fresh SW'ly winds with a low risk of 25KT gusts until mid-afternoon before easing through the evening.

BA700 VIE = WEAN, quite unusual, but Schwechat has been badly hit by snow
BA698 VIE
BA692 VIE
BA117 JFK = TECY, cancelled an hour before departure.

Punctuality was 76% for departures, 83% for arrivals, thanks to the need for weather (CB) avoidance patterns, and the risk of windshear. 331 BA departures out of 657 for LHR.

Afternoon Operational Update
Landing RWY: 27L
Airborne holding (mins):
Departure RWY: 27R
Heathrow: Alternation at 1500z. Runway Insp: 27R 1500, 27L 1515z. Regulation: 40/60 1300-1500, 42/60 1500-1600 due strong winds.
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Network: High delays into LOWW due heavy snow.

Weather: Strong wind warning until 2000z. Risk of CBs in LTMA throughout the afternoon/evening.
For info if anyone is interested:

BA692 - cancelled as VIE closed for a few hours due to heavy snow
BA696 - operated (delayed)
BA698 - departed on time but after lunch in the shadow of the Heathrow control tower and with a slot available was cancelled with the reason given by the captain - 'crew would be out of hours'
BA700 - cancelled
BA702 - operated (delayed)

I would guess it was due to one of the B787-10 having a technical problem and being stuck in Abuja, the aircraft is currently positioning back empty..

The Boston flights did operate, though jetBlue cancelled their service. BA213 ran 50 minutes late, the other 2 flights were/are on time.

BA had 317 departures today out of 623 for all of LHR. 94% punctuality.

Departure RWY: 27L
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Network: EPWA (Warsaw)Arrivals regulated due to Aerodrome Capacity (WIP) Moderate delays.

Weather: Sunny spells and dry conditions. Gentle to moderate SW'ly winds for most of the day before gradually becoming SSE'ly by mid evening. Likely clear spells to start the evening with a low risk of low cloud rolling in from the south from late evening onwards.

I was due to fly on the BA173 yesterday, I note that flights before and after the 173 from LHR to JFK flew yesterday. Is there any more detail on what the weather related cancellation for that particular flight was? ATC restrictions into JFK?

There was a fire in Terminal 1 so flights had to be diverted.

I would guess insufficient aircraft. The plane assigned to the service (G-XWBR) has been in LHR maintenance since last Thursday, so I am guessing it is overrunning. That is coupled with G-XWBA being stuck in DEL since the 25th (reason for the 25th IAD cancellation), so they are essentially 2 planes short (G-XWBF also appears to be having 48hr routine maintenance at LHR and is not due back in service until Friday).

The PHX rotation, also 250, was also canx yesterday well after departure time which most likely is another tech 350 so definitely not enough to fly the operation atm
