Moving swiftly on
I had pre-ordered an off menu main course, beef rendang. The starter was prawns with a wasabi mayo on a ridiculously large amount of broken nuts.

I was feeling totally exhausted for some reason and had absolutely no enthusiasm for food (or drink) I had a taste of each dish and they were good but full plates went back to the galley and I put the seat into bed mode for the first time ever and managed to find an achievable but uncomfortable sleeping position and slept fitfully for the next four hours

Returning the bed to seat mode I was in desperate need of coffee

I thought I’d try the noodles but I found them too al dente for
my taste

Now all up to date we are a little over 3 hours to landing.
Time to try to watch Tron Ares for maybe the fourth or fifth time!

One of our members didn’t want “to clog up the report” with their question but it was a very good one and something I should have detailed at the outset. The genesis of this trip was this post
Various Europe - AKL c.2.5k RTN Turkish + Codeshare Partners
This provided the SOF-IST-DPS-AKL-SIN-IST-BER part of the trip for 2,308 via trip.com
NCL-LHR-SOF was via trip.com also for 170 (plus subsequent upgrades)
BER-LHR-NCL is BA on avios
The last time I looked a couple of weeks ago you could still find this type of price for later in the year for various itineraries

With around two hours to landing the cabin lights were raised and the breakfast service started with the offer of a warm towel.
The first plates were a choice of a yoghurt or oat bowl, a fresh fruit plate and a pastry. I opted for a custard danish but it was not good, being dense and soggy.

And then some delicious dim sum

We have probably an hour to go
Next Stop: Singapore

With everything packed away and with 30 minutes to landing, my opinions on this Singapore Airlines flight.
The crew were very good, always attentive, didn’t all disappear once the lights were down, and always pleasant in service.
The seat has enough little nooks and crannies for storage and everything worked as it should although both the IFE and the power needed a reset. The tray table annoyed me considerably as it is positioned in my leaning spot so I was regularly releasing it accidentally. The worst aspect for me is the biased footwell, meaning that I couldn’t slouch the seat as I usually would.
The soft product was excellent, I had a taste of everything but almost all the food was returned. As for the alcohol list, I had the PDB and a sip of champagne, I never got to try anything else. Shows just how far off my game I am as they were pouring Hennessy XO and I love XO cognacs.
Top notch experience. I had high expectations and they did not disappoint.

Good morning from Singapore!
We landed nice and early, and it wasn’t too much of a Taxi before we pulled up at the far end of the F gates. That meant that it was a major stomp from there to immigration thankfully there were multiple travelators along the way

immigration was empty and it was straight to an E gate and straight through.
The bags took, maybe, 10 minutes before they started to arrive and mine was the fifth one off priority baggage actually seems to work for Singapore airline!
Then it was a short stroll through customs and to Gate 3 to meet my driver who was not there yet as I was much earlier than expected on the ground. It took him about 10 minutes to arrive.
The drive to the hotel was fun. He was a good conversationalist and was telling me all kinds of things about Singapore and the joys of living here. eventually we made it to the four points by Sheraton which will be my bed for the next three nights

I was amazingly happy to find that the room was available given that this is a little after 7 am. That’s some kind of Early check in! A standard room with no status upgrades, but I’m not complaining I’ll take the seven hour early check-in any day!

i’m also very thankful that check-in was quick and efficient because I’ve been in the room no more than two minutes when the explanation for my lack of appetite became very apparent. Let us just say that my next few meals are liable to be Imodium
green lipped muscles and oysters anyone? 🙄
I was already planning on just crashing and burning when I got here but given the circumstance I suspect I’ll also not be wanting to wander too far from the room for some time!
It’s like I’m trying to get the full set of common traveller ailments in one trip!
