NOTE ON GETTING OLCI OFFER ON OAL ORIGINATING:
If the AF LP flight segment is down line from your originating segment operated by another airline which forces you to use the OALs checkin system, you can manually use the AF website to check-in for the downline AF flight and still get the offer. For example, GRU-MEX-CDG sold as AM14 / AM 6103 (operated as AF179), you can checkin via AM as usual. Before or after, go to the AF website for the currency you want to pay for the upgrade in. Check-in using just your PNR / Lastname and the AF flight number you want to check-in for. It will allow a mid-trip check-in and will offer the LP upgrade if eligible.

In terms of "likelihood", your best shot is to be on a flight that has 3 or 4 empty seats once online check in opens up. Expertflyer can help you increase your odds of finding that flight but there are always last minute bookings/cancellations. There may be patterns for June travel in terms of days that are busier v. not, but ultimately, whether you get an offer or what the offer is, it's subject to AF's algorithm which is not always "logical".

As to those different options, they're all great except LH.

just took that flight in J two days ago. Upgrade price from J was 4000SGD which is about $3200 and more or less what a previous poster posted a week ago. Weird thing was when I selected the upgrade, it took me to the J seat map and didnt allow me to pick a La Premier seat. When I did a dummy booking, the center two seats were marked as unavailable. At check-in, they confirmed as well only 2 seats would be occupied and the middle would not be occupied.
Sad I did not get to try it but I feel so fat from eating all over Asia its probably for the best I didnt indulge myself any further

Bought a discounted Business class fare thru Delta for LAX-CDG-DXB. Here's the offers I received:
LAX-CDG $4602 (3 available)
CDG-DXB $1750 (2 available) I took this offer
When I checked in about 30 hours before the return flight, I saw this:
DXB-CDG $2369 (2 available)
CDG-LAX $6564 (3 available)
Surprisingly, when I checked a few hours before flight time, I saw this:
DXB-CDG $1750 (2 available)
CDG-LAX unavailable all seats taken

it seems that AF relies a lot on OLCI last minute upgrades to reach a better loading factor.

Throughout January and early Feb, I checked regularly EF data, and I conclude that the loading factor based on paid tickets is roughly 50%.

A data point: CDG-JFK 3135; I did not take this.
The offers was "from 3135"; I was interested to know, only from idle curiosity as I really can't believe these prices, what the "from" indicated (more incl. SAF?), but clicking through didn't work, so I have no idea what the higher prices were etc.

Sadly that is not to be - they changed the aircraft to an A359 for tomorrow. Initially, the app showed me on standby, but now it shows me in business. A bit disappointing...! Was looking forward to a (really) lovely afternoon.

JFK -> CDG (March 02, 2026): $3,280 (2 seats available)

A few hours ago it was ~$6,300 with just one seat available, so I guess someone moved. I am on a relatively cheap paid J ticket. No status

I believe this is the new LP (plane is F-GZNQ).

Recently flew AF IAD-CDG-AMS on a DL-marketed Z (business) fare, received 2 offers on the IAD-CDG sector:

- Approximately $4000 via the AF website from my laptop about 35 hours before departure. I declined.
- $1900 or 203000 (FB) miles at 25 hours before departure via AF website on my mobile phone. Paid cash (DL medallion, no FB account) - interestingly was able to check in immediately on AF despite the flight being ex-US and >24 hours out. Wonder if this was an artifact of the temporary DST mismatch between the US and Europe this time of year. DL app showed my P seat but business class and 1 hour to check-in afterwards.

Lovely experience (until arrival in AMS of course.)

Now to see how DL decides to credit.

thats a great price. Too bad it was on the eastbound sector and not the return. I have a hard time justifying LP on the short transatlantic nighttime flights. Ive done it as a diamond many times. It will definitely credit as J

IAD-CDG westbound would not be a short flight...
