To add on to the Milan Marriott… again, this is February 2026 and the construction on the rooms is very loud… they’re doing drilling in the hallway (and above us) and there are just a ton of contractors everywhere. Does feel like we’re in an active construction zone. So beware. Today is Friday so hopefully no construction tomorrow.

Ugh, thanks for reporting. We have a couple of months before our stay, and we are mostly there on a weekend, but what a drag. I'm wondering if I should look at alternatives, although I have a decent rate.

Just in time for the Olympics!

Well, good time to report on what it’s like on Saturday now I guess.

It’s 10:30am here currently. We ended up getting in bed around 2am after coming back from the Opening Ceremony. Around 7:30am there was hammering happening that woke us up but it subsided quickly. Sounded more like light work and we went back to sleep.

9:30am housekeeping came and we were still in bed. The Do Not Disturb signal is electronic and doesn’t seem to stick. Again, I think the hotel got cute and installed motion sensors to try to guess if guests were still in the room. There is a little electric panel outside the room that I think shows if the room is occupied or not and the motion sensors don’t do a good job if there’s two people in the room.

Anyways, now at 10:30am there is some minor band saw cutting noise… not as intense as the hammering yesterday but still noticeable.

For us, it was still optimal to stay here for the Opening Ceremony since we could walk home from San Siro Stadium (45 mins) and didn’t have to deal with the mess of transit after the ceremony.

In terms of area, there’s not much touristy stuff around. A 10 min walk to the metro line that gets you into the center.

Location aside, I would definitely reach out to reception to see when construction is done if you’re planning to stay here.

A quick note for fans of Milan Marriotts (I just got back last night since I was in Milan for non-Olympic reasons): the Westin is the "Olympic Family Hotel" (closed to the public before and during the games) and some of the US official delegation (i.e., Vance) was staying at the Gallia.

A couple other quick notes about the Milan Marriott. Walls are pretty thin it seems as the folks next door are talking at what sounds like a normal volume and we can make out words. 🙄

Front desk staff is very nice. One staff said they have 327 rooms, 220 are done. The other 107 weren’t ready in time for the Olympics. They were supposed to be done in December 2025. But “you know Italians” (her words not mine).

There is a fake wall where the new M Club and restaurant will be.

The renderings do look nice. We will see. I’m not sure we would return if we weren’t coming for the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

A heads-up if you were in Milan for the Olympics and stayed at the Courtyard Milano Linate or Residence Inn Milano Linate: I reserved the Courtyard quite some time ago. A day or two prior to arriving in Milan I received a surprise email with a reservation for the Residence Inn. Quick google search showed a few others on reddit had the same thing. Residence Inn is brand new, and right next to Courtyard - open less than a week prior to my arrival and they said that they "upgraded" some elites from the CY to RI. The room was indeed very nice and breakfast was included. BUT...they took 2 FNA certs and 31K from my account without any approval. The CY was 28K per night and has not been returned yet. I've been on the phone a couple of times with Bonvoy support and several email exchanges with the hotel manager. I believe it will get resolved but if I had not been keeping a close eye on the points I would not have caught it. Most of the people that read this on FT are pretty diligent , but if you know others that traveled there please tell them to check their account activity. It seemed like most of the hotel had been moved from CY rather than reserving RI as the hotel had been open only a week. Manager said I was the first to stay in that room -- a first for me.

They are planning on refunding my CY res of 28K per night. Debated asking for them to refund the FNA awards instead since those are theoretically worth 35K but think I'll let them take those since they are getting harder to use and have expiration dates.

I would welcome recommendation for Bonvoy property in Milan up to about €300 a night. I will be working at Sannazzaro refinery for a week so intend to drive daily from Milan. FWIW I am currently titanium member so lounge access and also free breakfast would be good. Particularly as I'm intending to take my daughter who will be at the hotel or wondering locally during the day. I will be on a business trip so not so concerned about parking charges as long as its convenient to park and easy to drive out to Sannazzaro. I have been to Milan a couple of times before and will probably go to the centre once or twice on days off.

What options are in your budget on your dates? That will help folks make recommendations.

Last month we stayed at Duo Milan Porta Nuovo, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel. It was €240 a night. We didn't have a car, so not exactly sure about parking arrangements but I did see they had valet parking service. No lounge, but as Titanium we had free breakfast in the restaurant. It was buffet style with lots of choices. We were also given vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel lobby bar. We were upgraded prior to arrival to a slightly larger room, that included a balcony. My NUAs were not accepted, and I did see that suites were sold out during our stay of two nights. The rooms are tight! But we liked the stylish vibe of the hotel, including the photo booth in the lobby. The hotel was a short walk from Milan Centrale train station and the Gioia metro stop. The area was safe and clean, lots of cafés, restaurants, shops close by. We particularly enjoyed dinner at Barzac, right down the block. I would have no hesitation staying there again.
