(April 2026) Summary of best information regarding Touchless ID when flying American Airlines:
- Must Opt In for Touchless with EACH airline specifically and individually.
- Details for Touchless are slightly different for each airline.
- Must complete all information on AA website or app profile, including USA even if state and zip code are complete.
- All information must be complete prior to Opt In (to Touchless) on website or app.
- Many reports that Touchless is NOT possible for tickets purchased prior to Opt In.
- Many reports that Touchless is only available with check-in via Mobile App.
- After check-in on mobile app, Touchless icon has been printed on all boarding passes (BP): mobile BP, home printed hard copy BP, airport printed hard copy BP.
- Going through Touchless line at some airports might be possible using a BP without Touchless icon.
- Going through Touchless line at some airports might NOT be possible using a BP without Touchless icon due to line monitors at the entrances to the various lines.
- Few reports state Touchless should work for International flights.

Couple questions, if anyone knows...
I read on here that the touchless logo will not appear if your starting airport does not have touchless. Does anyone know if that is still true - epecially if you are connecting from an inbound international flight where you will certainly need to go back trhough TSA, unlike a domestic connection? I also read here that a final international destination will also supress it. Not sure that one makes sense to me. And, finally, it appers multiple pax on a PNR will no longer supress the option if all are opted-in. True?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Correct re: multi-pax where it appears.
My JFK-LHR BP had touchless so the international issue has been addressed.

I've gotten Touchless out of LAS when I fly Delta. But have not gotten it when flying American out of LAS. Anyone have an idea why that may be? I added my passport to AA etc. But in 7 flights, only precheck shows on my bp. Any thoughts as to why and what to do are appreciated.

D30 on Thursday was similar, but for some reason I didnt have the Touchless on this boarding pass. Saw a guy skip the whole line, get photoed and told it failed, asked him for an ID and in he went. Seems the system is still pretty immature, but they keep trying it. Takes a person away from processing the main Pre-Check line.

I've had that happen at DCA going thru Touchless. Said the photo returned a slight variation of my name that didn't match exactly on my boarding pass. (could have been a suffix like JR at the end missing or present, not sure). TSA guy said go on thru, but also told me in future talk to the airline and have them fix things to match boarding pass and ID, but would NOT tell me what was actually the mismatch. I'm likely to always be the guy who gets the error and gets waived in. How can I ask AA to fix what I don't know is mismatched? Ugh

Had the Touchless indication on my BP but "it's not working today" at JFK T8.
