Yea this is not correct and hasn't been for years now, as safari ari noted fare buckets are meaningless when it comes to crediting AA flights to AAdvantange. As a PLT Pro you earn 9 LP/$ regardless of whether you purchase the cheapest O economy fare or the most expensive full F first class fare.

I'm at 215K LPs and trying to determine whether to reach for 250K. I already told myself I wouldn't reach for coupons, but surely at some point it's worth considering. What monetary value would you place on the 2 awards at the 250K level?
The bonus miles are the easiest probably - 30,000 x 2 = 60,000 x .015 = $900 (though I usually don't have much difficulty using for J awards to Europe on a $3K+ ticket). Still, I'll say this has $900 in value.
The LPs are a little tricky. You get half as many, but they obviously hold more value. If I'd taken the LPs last year, I'd be very close to 250K now. I'd maybe value 30,000 LP the same as 60,000 miles, so let's say $900.
SWU is where I expect a lot of disagreement. I took 6 last year and still sitting on 2 which is unusual. Historically, I've been one of the few that seems to easily maximize my value out of SWUs, but I traveled less last year, flew a lot on partners, redeemed a lot of miles, and paid into J a few times. While I'm usually getting $2K+ in value per upgrade on average, I wouldn't always be booking full fare business in the absence of an upgrade. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd personally value each SWU at about $800. So $800 x 4 = $3,200
The other LP rewards don't interest me from a value standpoint.
So I'm about $3,100 away in terms of AA spend from the 250K reward if earning 11LP/$. At this rate, I'd say it's not worth reaching for. Just curious how far others here are going to reach for their next reward threshold.

You already told yourself it's not worth it, that's where you stand. At $3000 plus in travel for maybe $3000 in value, why not just buy those upgrades with that money if it's really burning a hole in your pocket?

At this point that's absolutely my plan. However, I could easily have 2-3 more work trips come up in the next few weeks and may only be stretching for $1000. More than advice on what to do, I'm just curious about others' strategies and how y'all value these rewards.

I was in a similar situation last year, sub 1k in spend in February on cc and shopping but still felt worthwhile to gain the 250k rewards, then successfully used all 6 SWUs (175k and 250k) for the family so out of pocket cost was notably lower than had I paid for the upgrades.

There are also still a few partners where it continues to be a miles-based calculation, but most of those have switched over as well:

Extra bonus LPs
My AAdvantage account has several hundred extra LPs posted today with the title: "Loyalty Point Reward Extra Bonus". Extra LPs are always nice I suppose, although I don't really need this small tranche as I've already hit the highest milestone that I'm going to reach for 2026. Still, I have no idea why I received these bonus LPs or for what.
Any wise folks here receive something similar and know why?

I received something similar, but don't know why. Posted today, but activity backdated to Jan 31. The amount exactly matches the amount of a posting on Jan 29th (a small 3 digit number from an AA dining transaction, which included a 30% bonus)

Was there a promo of some kind? If so, I stumbled backwards and ignorant into it.
