BA Economy flight
Hi I'm not sure where to post my question so hope this is the right place.
I didn't realise I could book a multi destination flight when I booked through the app so only booked the outward bound flight to Nashville economy class whilst I sorted a few hotels in Nashville, Memphis & New Orleans. I've gone to book the inbound flight from New Orleans and whilst searching online I realised a multi destination return flight would have been a lot cheaper. There are now sales on and a return multi flight is almost the same price as a one way inward bound flight. I've tried contacting BA but they just keep going on about cancelling my flights and rebooking, but wondered if I could amend the flight to a couple of days earlier and add a return flight? Has anyone done anything similar and could please maybe guide me? Thank you

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
The best place for your query is the FlyerTalk BA forum. I'll alert a Moderator and request that this thread be moved there.
How long ago did you purchase the one-way ticket? Was it a Basic Economy fare (hand baggage only), or a "regular" Economy fare? Did you ask the BA agent whether the ticket would have any residual value if you cancelled and rebooked?
Good luck!

Thank you! I booked it at end of November, as a basic economy, hand luggage only plus I added seats. I didn't ask those questions but have gone onto manage my booking and there was only a fee to amend the one way flight, but not letting me add in another flight.
Ideally I'd like to get the sale price for return flights if I could, even if I have to pay a little bit more to do so. I'm currently in Australia so limited to texting at the moment.

Experienced travellers will know that one way tickets to the US are very expensive compared to the price of round trip tickets. As you have found out this should have been booked as a round trip ticket from the outset rather than 2 separate one way tickets; but that it is too late now. You can't rebook /change the ticket to a round trip ticket - also because you will incur high change fees by doing so.
All you can do now is to hope that you have a significant schedule change or cancellation before departure which will allow you to cancel the ticket and get a full refund. Then you can book a new round trip ticket.
Sorry to be the bearer of the disappointing news.

Before giving up any hope, I would suggest checking the CHG/CXL T&C of your current tickets (you should have 2). May NONREF but you may be able to get a credit to use towards the open jaw ticket, and the change fee, if any, may be worth paying.

Time/date changes permitted at any time before each flight departure for a change fee of 150 or an upgrade fee of 150 plus any difference in fare. All sectors may be repriced. Changes subject to availability. Fees apply per ticket.

Thank you for your reply, very much appreciated. This is what I can see but no mention of being able to add on another flight. Does NONREF mean "non refund".

If you are a member of BA's frequent flyer scheme you could also look at buying Avios and booking a one way reward seat from New Orleans - that might be cheaper than a cash fare and assumes rhere is availability on your date you want to travel.

Nothing to add really as sage advice has already been given. As above best to ask in future before bookings if unsure, seek guidance etc as this place is filled with so many experienced flyers (
), tons of booking experiences etc and here's the best bit.........advice is always free!
So, just to say welcome to Flyertalk and here at the BA Board Jules_0404.

If your fare permits changes then I do not see why you would not be able to change the one-way flight into a return. BA defines a change as a routing change as well. After all, BA does reprice return tickets into one-ways. I would call BA and ask if they could re-price the ticket for you into a return/multi-city. Again, I don't see why that would not be allowed. You will have to pay the change fee and any additional fare. I would call BA as you can't do a change like that online.

Thank you & yes I had seen these and would have gone with JetBlue due to pricing but I've managed to get BA to reprice my journey, I've had to pay a change fee but saved more in the long run and we get to fly direct so a bonus 😊
