“Base” as in “animalistic” or “lowest” perhaps is their angle.

it’s disappointing that passengers on these routes asked for the downgrade in band - but who am I to doubt BA comms.

It feels like BA is trying to mimic LH in reducing the short haul J catering somehow (might be going below).

BA have got to be kidding me… I hope Euroflyer are exempt from this ridiculous downgrade as I’m a regular to Malaga and often get the afternoon LGW departure which currently leaves in the 1400-1659 time slot.

I treat the meal as either a late lunch or early dinner and normally won’t eat in Spain that evening having been well fed on the plane and in the lounge.

Ditto for other 2 hour plus flights in that time slot I take.

This ‘Ploughman’s Tea’ is a pathetic excuse of a meal. I’m beginning to wonder, is BA the new Ryanair? Their contempt for their customers knows no bounds. Only difference is at least Ryanair are honest about it.

- Band 3 routes will no longer have a Hot Meal, replaced with Ploughman’s Tea

[1400-1659]

- Some Band 4 routes with a flight duration of 4+ hours change to Band 4B

- Band 4B routes will introduce a “Tea and Cake” pre-landing service
As memory serves dear old British Midland used to serve a slab of Jam and Cream Victoria Sponge on some routes - RAK, CMN, and AGA come to mind.

Is anyone flying this route in the near future

Dear Ms Cassandra

As I do not have much of a sweet tooth - taking those tasteless Strawberry jams and cream off the menu is fine for me. i prefer salt to sweet. However, it is one more instance where you have to kick off. I am so so so bored with BA and their nasty little devaluations in service, Gone are hot cloths, gone are the menus, gone are the trimmings that allowed them to call an Economy seat something tarty. You are all too young to remember that going thought the curtain brought you to an airline Narnia. At least they have not decided to go from Champagne to the vile equivalents (what is exported is revolting - what they keep domestically is like chalk and cheese). as the fur would really fly,

One feels somewhat like Mme Thenadier

That I would meet a prince
But God Almighty,
Have you seen what's happened since?

the big change is band 3 1400-1659 losing the hot meal to a ploughman's.
That's disgraceful. Removes the main hot meal from every afternoon flight unless you go in a very narrow 'lunch' or 'dinner' period. And many long flights at that.

Honestly, they just chip and chip away until you can see the bones.

Presumably meaning that BA have a new menu development manager responsible for Club Europe who does not like sweet things. It looks like fruit cake, which is the cake of people who don't like cake.

There’s no such thing as a ploughman’s tea but if there was it wouldn’t include Brie FGS.

Honestly what planet are these people on?

Oh BA. You simply do not cease to amaze in how low you like to drop the bar! (Please don’t drop
the onboard bar, that would well be the end of CE!). As my main route (AGP) band 3 downgraded is a real kick in the…

What on earth is a ploughman’s tea?! The screenshots of tweets above really show the pure ignorance to the customer voice! It does feel insulting. I like CE but this is a real head-scratcher in justifying the cost on a 2hr 45min flight, when I like to have a hot lunch/dinner option.

As for the marketing photo (shared above), quite remarkable how they can make a cherry tomato look more like the size of an apple, it shows how small everything else is!

I do hope we all complain and by end of March they reverse this decision, (once they’ve met their April bonus targets) . BA we can read you like a book but it’s no longer as enjoyable!

I think this is probably from a training video or early concepts and not actually the final thing. There have been no pictures of it released from BA so this has probably been taken from somewhere incorrectly. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

Ooof. We picked up some from Neal’s just before Christmas (where I’d almost knocked over Jay Rayner in my haste to get to the counter) and by the time we got home the oooze was incredible. I fear it may not be entirely suitable for airborne consumption.

Alas it would be more likely that a Mangalitza soars over Concorde at 60,000 ft than BA serves such outstanding British produce.

One day we’ll get the airline we deserve.
