I'm gonna make a bet and say that business logic is f*cked and just gave you an extra year at some point for some reason, but if you keep making your requal criteria you'll be fine

I put the question to Radisson support (as mine shows the same) and the answer appears to suggest a 2-year qualification period:
Thank you for your message, and congratulations on your recent VIP status update. Were pleased to have you as a valued Radisson Rewards member. As per our records, your current tier is valid until 31 August 2027. To maintain your VIP status beyond that date, you will need to complete either:
We hope this clarifies your tier renewal timeline. If you have any further questions or need assistance tracking your progress, feel free to reach outwere always happy to help.

Yes, your understanding is correct.

The whole system is still broken as f. Next to the point that stays/nights are still not counting correct as I have at least 80-90 nights last 12 months... while the stay seem to be correct. But then the "status change" notification is very troubeling.

Last week, when I checked in at an RB, they actually told me "Welcome as Premium member". I said "Thanks, but actually... I am VIP". They were sorry, but at that time e.g. the room was already allocated, so I missed the nicer upgrade - which would have been available. At checkout they asked me to pay for the breakfast since the system says I have been downgraded to Premium in August. While in my app it shows VIP, I clearly re-qualified for VIP and even if not... In August I would be VIP anyway.
After some back and forth they accepted to waive the charge for breakfast... but less than a pleasant experience.

How can their IT still be in such shambles?
Last year they gave status away for free. There really is no point trying to stay loyal and obtain status through stays/nights when they can't even get basics right.

My status was supposed to renew in August 8/25 and I had 35 nights stayed in 2025.
On September 9th 2025 the app was still showing - renews 8/25.
On September 10th 2025 all my nights reset to 0 and I was downgraded to Premium. I called their support line to complain (as I should have stayed VIP). They said they would followup in an email.
Today is September 11th 2025 - have my VIP status back (the nights all have stayed reset at 0 - but no problem for me there). Now the status shows to be renewed on 8/27 (so 2 year extension - hopefully this is true, but probably won't risk it and stay 30 nights until 8/26 - the free breakfast + almost always upgraded room is worth it for me).

But will there still be an "almost always upgraded room" when you only need 30 nights in two years to become or stay VIP?
Because that is ridicously easy. (At Accor, or IHG, this number of nights over two years makes you Silver - the first level available to qualify for).
Half the guests will be VIP in a few months from now...

Yes they do.

Under My Points, then Redeem...
Do stays booked with points count toward next status?
Yes, the nights and stays acquired on all bookings made through our online channels, whether paid in cash or points, count towards your next tier.

My VIP tier is going to expire this month. I contacted the gentleman who runs Head-For-Points and he told me that one stay should extend it for two years. Can anyone confirm please?
I originally got the match from Avolta in December 2024, and it was valid for one year only?

Unfortunately it doesnt work that way. People have commented that its just a semantic issue. You need to meet the full renewal criteria. I was in the same position as you and dropped to Premium despite having a number of stays during the year. I contact CS and was told the same.
