Cancelling CET Credit Card And Reapplying

Ok major edit here.

Looks like you can now upgrade the NAF CET credit card via the bread WEBPAGE and get all the sign up benefits of a new application

No idea, I logged into the webpage with the intention of sending a message to cancel my current NAF card and then reapply for the $149 card.

When I logged in I saw the upgrade offer and took it.

I'm 496 tier credits short of renewing diamond for 2026 but I may have some points pending from our recent vegas trip where there was a 5X dining multiplier that it said would post within 14 days.

Here is the offer I had when I logged in this past Friday.

I just checked my wife's card and it had the same offer.

You may need to go on the website, the Bread financial app didn't show any upgrade offer.

I just upgraded my wife's card ( in case the upgrade offer disappears) and will make her spend on 1/1/2026 ( assuming Diamond stays at 15K TC ) toward 2027 Diamond status as $10K spend over the year should get her 10K (TC) Tier Credits.

Bread Financial messaged me again today and said they made a mistake and gave me the wrong info, they said CET is responsible for my SUB and points and they don't see the SUB offer on my card..........or any card they issue

I guess it's not like Citi, for example, that sends miles to your American account.

Bread doesn't purchase points from CET. and CET hands out the SUB.

I'm pretty sure I will get the SUB, as it's clearly written on the upgrade offer, but you might want to make sure I do before you upgrade.

Message me before you upgrade next year.

I finally got the upgrade offer, but...I want to spend the 5k first and get the tier credits and free night for it.

Then I want to upgrade and get the 20k and more tier credits. If I am thinking about this properly...

I currently have 5kish tier credits
I would get another 5k for spending $5k
Then I upgrade and spend $1k and that will get me another 5k (2.5k for upgrade and 2.5 for spend)

Am I reading that all correctly? That would give me 15k and Diamond status.

Do you know if my 2 free nights I will be getting expire 1/31/26 or 27?

Even though I think that upgrade offer was very clear ( in that I would receive the new card SUB by upgrading) I have been told I won't get the new card offer.

I have received very mixed info over the years from Commenity Bank/Bread but Bread and CET are both saying the same thing, no SUB on the upgrade.

Since I was told I wouldn't get the new card SUB I spent $5K ( on the new card, I already spend $5K on the NAF card in 2025) as I need ~ 500 TC for this year to qualify for Diamond until 1/31/2027 and we don't have any more casino trips planned this year.

I upgraded October 17, spent the $5K by October 25 and CET verified the spend with Bread who told me I will receive the 2500 TC for spending $5k within one or two statements, my next statement closes November 10.

I have no idea how many, if any TC and RC will post as part of my card upgrade so I would hold off on taking any upgrade offer if I was you............................. but on the other hand, you may have to chance it as you need 10K TC to post in the next 55 days to get Diamond for 2026/7

Any free nights per 5K TC you earn in 2025 expire January 31, 2026

Any update on this? Did you get your upgrade offer points?

I haven't received ANY tier credits so far for the new (upgraded) card SUB or the $5k I spent on the new card.

I'm also waiting for about 4K TC from the 5x dining promo CET had in Vegas in October.

I was told by CET in late October they see I made the $5k spend on the upgraded card and the 2500 TC will post to my account within 2 statements.

My statement closed November 10 so the TC SHOULD show up by December 10 ish but I have zero faith I will see any TC.

I need ~500 TC to renew Diamond for 2026 and have a night booked at a local ( 2 hours away) CET casino for December 20 but I'm hoping 500 TC post and I can cancel.
