But I created dummy account, and the same card could be added for that new dummy account. I am really confused. The customer service rep had no idea why either.

Two of the “$2,000”+ benefits that come with the card are 20,000 MPM credits towards award tickets and $100 in TravelBank credits for renting with Avis or Budget through United car rentals ($50 back with your first rental and $50 back with your second). I have received the first, in 10,000 mile tranches, and applied them to award travel. So that part works great. The second has taken me an hour and a half on the phone with Chase, Avis, and Mileage Plus. No one at any of these companies knows about this perk. So I’ve yet to see any money in my TravelBank three months after my rentals.

BTW, if you rent a car through United.com you will be charged for the entire rental if you no show or don’t cancel more than 24 hours before pickup.

So just downgraded back to the Gateway. It was interesting that there was no attempt to get me to keep the Club and no asking why I was downgrading.

Have you been successful in getting your $50 TravelBank cash posting to your account? It has been two months since my rental and nothing has posted. Similar story to yours - contacted United who knows nothing about this - they are referring me to Avis and Chase who also don't know anything about this.

Was your rental at least for two days? I had to read the fine prints to know about it

No, no TravelBank cash posting. Guess I'll spend another hour on the phone trying to get it sorted out. And yes, my rental was for multiple days.

Chase United Club Card - $100 Avis Travel Credit

The Avis $100 Travel Credit is a scam. Below is the Terms & Conditions directly from Chase and United. If you look at the detailed Terms & Conditions under on the Chase or United.com website, they both have the exact same details below. neither mention a specific discount code required or that you need to refer to the specific T&C under the "cars.united.com" website. The Terms & Conditions under the cars.untied.com website say you have to use the specific discount code AWD A7915000. If you don't use that code you don't your $50 TravelBank credit. This is false & deceptive advertising and should be reported to Better Business Bureau. When i called Chase to find out why i didn't get my credit they told me to call United. When i called United they told me to call Avis. When i called Avis they told me to call United. complete circle jerk trying to get this unethical situation sorted.Up to $100 Avis Travel Credit: Earn up to $50 in United TravelBank cash on your first eligible Avis purchase and up to $50 in United TravelBank cash on your second eligible Avis purchase when you use your United Club℠ card on Avis rental car purchases made directly through cars.united.com up to a maximum accumulation of $100 annually. Annual means the year beginning with your account open date through the first statement date after your account open date anniversary, and the 12 monthly billing cycles after that each year. Each eligible Avis rental must be booked for a minimum of 2 days, and the Primary Cardmembers must include their MileagePlus number in their reservation. Travel credit will be delivered in the form of United TravelBank cash and will be added to your MileagePlus account within 6-8 weeks after each eligible Avis rental return. Annual TravelBank cash will be issued for the year in which the transaction posts to your account. Delays by Avis could extend the transaction date beyond the annual period end date and will be allocated towards the following years annual Avis travel credit. Chase is not responsible for the provision of, or failure to provide, the stated benefits and services. United TravelBank cash will post directly to your MileagePlus account and will not appear on your credit card statement.

Chase United Club Card - $100 Avis Travel Credit

So it appears there are now three requirements to get the $50:

1) Book through cars.united.com website.
2) Reserve the car for at least two days.
3) Use discount code AWD A7915000 (there is also an Avis Worldwide Discount code with only two zeros).

(With all due respect,) and probably end up paying twice as much as one of the hundreds of other available rates (even with the credit).

Car rental rates are more complicated and convoluted than airfares or hotel rates. Coupled with new AI scans to (over)charge for minor “damages”, I’m very pleased that Lyft and Uber have replaced rental cars for me 90% of the time and I’m very pleased that years ago I found the new AutoSlash website.

Interesting experience with my new UA Club card. I’m clueless as to this one transaction, the agent I just spoke with was even more clueless. I’ll write all possibly relevant information.

For UA lounge access, I’ve been “churning” UA Club and UA Club Biz cards for about 5 years, paying just 1 AF per card, to me the SUB “justifies” ONE high AF. Usually close cards at 12.9 months, one time I was told I had 90 days after AF billed to close a UA Club Biz card and get AF refunded.

Club card: Sep 2020 – Oct 2021
Club Biz card: Nov 2021 – Feb 2023
Club card: Mar 2023 – Apr 2024
Club Biz card: Apr 2024 – May 2025
Club card: May 2025 – today

Current open account applied May 6th, in review, called 15 minute later, $16k CL moved from another card, approved. Card received 2 days later, minimum spend met quickly, AF billed on June 1st, SUB posted on 1st statement on June 2nd. No activity in June, no July 2nd statement.

July 12 called to reallocate CL on several cards, including increasing this UA Club card from $16k to $24k. Mid July used card for two $5.60 awards fees and one $36 Uber ride for the $12 statement credit. Online balance for past 2 weeks was $35.20. July 31 called to lower CL on all Chase cards (personal and biz) including decreasing this UA Club card to $2k. Saw August 2nd statement on line 2-3 days ago, expected to see $35.20 balance.

Instead saw credit balance of $659.80 and “MEMBERSHIP FEE CREDIT Fees & adjustments -$695.00” (back)dated “July 03”.

Called today, agent had no idea why the AF was rebated. Agent asked if I was military, I said “yes, retired, I haven’t been eligible for SCRA benefits since Chase extended them to me for another 2 years after my reserve mobilization to Afghanistan in 2013.” Decided to stop hitting my head against a wall, asked if credit balance could be sent to me, agent processed the refund.

(To be clear, Chase has not credited/refunded any other AFs to me, including the first 2 UA Club cards above and 2 Sapphire Reserve cards and 2 Sapphire Preferred cards since 2016. I routinely call to reallocate CLs among various cards, not sure if my call on July 31 is related to this credit which posted on the August 2nd statement (back)dated “July 03”.)

I believe this is the reason that the annual fee was refunded. Since 2010 there is a Federal regulation which limits the annual fee to 25% of the initial credit limit. See here: https://www.federalreserve.gov/consu...tk_ccrules.pdf Chase apparently has a software flaw which refunds the annual fee if the cardholder requests a limit reduction to less than four times the fee. I do not recall that this has been reported on Chase's own branded cards, but it has been reported on the discontinued Ritz-Carlton co-branded card. If I recall correctly, the fee waiver only applies to the first year, but experiences may vary.

Interesting, thank you for the explanation and lesson learned, now I can stop scratching my head.

Appears to be an “all or nothing” thing in that AF refund was 100% with AF billed 2 months ago and CL lowered to slightly less than 4x AF.

Perhaps also why some cards have relatively high initial CLs.

On July 31 when I called to lower CL I did ask if there was a minimum CL for UA Club Visa Infinite card, agent was clueless. Pure luck that I chose $2k and not $3k or $4k.

(I decreased all previously consolidated Chase CLs on July 31 because of more frequent recent reports of denials from various issuers for “too much credit extended” and my own denials in October 2024 and April 2025 for the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard due to “high amount of unused credit compared to available credit lines.”)

I doubt I’ll change the CL on this UA Club card again and my plan was to cancel at 12.9 months and then re-apply for a UA Club Biz card. I’ll try to remember to post here again next June 1st regarding 2nd AF charge.

My 7 month old Sapphire Reserve initial instant approval CL was $50k, increased/reallocated to $100k on July 12, decreased to $12k on July 31. Now thinking about decreasing to $1k or $2k. I’ll try to remember to post here again about effect (or lack thereof) on AF if I do lower.

Mods: The subject of Federal regulation limits of annual fees to 25% of initial credit limits is rarely discussed in these forums and seems to be a significant bit of information. Perhaps it warrants a dedicated thread of its own?
