You're right. I totally overlooked it, I was thinking about buzzwords then turn into common Aeroplan things as fillers, forgetting it's a "loyalty" programme afterall.

Maybe this is why they wanted to allow qualifying using credit cards.

Do we think it will be a morning dump along with the blogs? A bit anxious to sleep not knowing if I will survive the red wedding.

If we are speculating, I would definitely welcome status and MM accrual from reward bookings if points are earned solely from airline and cc spend, then this could make sense

Does anyone know how Aeroplan sends out their e mail blasts? i.e. alpha, AP number, status, etc? We're all on the edge of our seats here , just wondering if I should check Mrs W's e mail before mine. Could be a restless night. Who will be the first to post? (Memo to self - get a life!).

If the announcement is tomorrow, you can bet the bloggers have all had the info for a while and have their articles ready to go the instant the embargo is lifted, which will presumably be about the same time AC puts it on the website.

As I have said before, I am impressed by the discipline of those with advance knowledge who delay gratification to get the scoop next time.

I will be interested to see how quickly a certain bovine will update his PNR viewer after the changes are announced.

I expect it be immediate but I could be completely wrong.

cowtool LLC has no advance knowledge of anything. It will require an update to the open-source SQD tool (which may have to be renamed; it might be useful to run two of them (SQD and SQC calculators) in parallel until we actually get to 2026), followed by an update to PNR tool.

Assuming the announcement is tomorrow morning, the chance of any cowtool being updated before Saturday is quite low.

That being said, it will obviously be a priority.

As airlines treat points more like a currency with ever-escalating dynamic pricing, as opposed to giving away empty seats to frequent flyers, it becomes more and more logical to award status credit for reward bookings. DL awards MQD on redemption tickets, although I'm not aware of any others. This is actually something I've been wondering whether we might see from these changes.

For PoT, OMAAT, VFTW, etc, this is their livelihood. They need access to airline execs to continue to get special/early info that lets them produce the content that earns then a living, give them comped flights or status or whatever, advertise their co-branded CCs, etc.

No one who shared info with me that led to this thread being created is in that position, and I'm certainly not.

As someone who has contributed a fair amount of work to that tool - albeit none of the really hard stuff - I wouldn't hold my breath. Some of it may be fairly simple, but if they're earning at some specified ratio on some partner flights that are different from other flights, and some partners have dollar-based earning while others are still distance, that will all take time.

Moderator note: as the changes have now been announced and are covered in a new thread, time to close this one.
