SQ just changed connecting flight departure time from SIN. Enough time to make it?

My wife and I are flying SQ 21 nonstop EWR-SIN, and then connecting to SQ 946 nonstop SIN-DPS on one SQ award ticket.

The flight to SIN is supposed to land at 16:45, and the connecting SQ flight had been leaving from Terminal 2 at 18:15.
So we had 1 hours between flights to make the connection.

But SQ just informed me that the connecting flight is now leaving at 17:45.
So that only allows 1 hour to make the connecting flight.

And to complicate things further, while making the connection my wife will have to be in an airport-supplied wheelchair, which will meet us at the gate when we deplane upon arrival at SIN.

Does 1 hour seem do-able to get to the connecting flight?

Hi,

SQ usually use terminal 3 on their long-haul flight, but flight within SEA region either departing from terminal 2 or 3.
If you are lucky, you connecting flight to DPS would be on the same terminal and 1 hour should be enough. However, if it's on different terminal that would be tight.

I'm sure there will be staff on standby at your arrival gate to assist with tight connecting pax (they usually put sign up up with flight + route, and have buggy stnby to quickly transport pax)
Also, security check is at the departing gate at SIN, so it would be a lot quicker than other airports

Yes, but don't dawdle. There's no immigration to pass through, one merely needs to conduct security at the SINDPS departure gate. This is a legal connection, SQ sells it.

You'll also find SQ21 tends to arrive ahead of schedule.

Personally, I'd be more worried about having your DPS papers in order. Landing ~9p in DPS is an unpleasant time to arrive. Pity they did away with the VIP meet and greet, those were the days.

Enjoy your trip - Jamie

Yes, unfortunately we expect to be exhausted by the time we finally arrive at our hotel in Bali!

And thank you for the reassurance about making the connection.

I wonder if I should ask SQ for a buggy to get us between the gates. Especially since my wife is disabled. The airport wheelchairs sometimes don't arrive for quite a while, which in this case could be a problem.

Can't advise, can't hurt. But you may find yourself rather alert. Jetlag is like that.

I fly this route religiously, though prefer the JFK evening departure as it means getting to Sanur (where we typically start) in time for lunch. At least with your arrival time, traffic shouldn't be the problem that it typically is during the day.

Hi Jamie

You can still book meet and greet at DPS booking via the using Joumpa airport VIP service, my wife has used this for the past two year. They assisted her in the airport wheel chair her on arrival, including her luggage to the car we had booked. This can be booked by anyone wishing to expedite the arrival in Bali.

I hope this is useful Regards David

Pendampingan Meet & Greet International - Keberangkatan International is 28 USD

Helpful, but the remaining services no longer bring passengers to the front of the immigration line. That was the true value of the VIP services.

SQ would have rebooked your connecting flight if they didn't think you could make it.

Make sure the checkin staff tag your bags with "priority" tags so that they can be identified easily & hopefully make the connection too.

My bags didn't make a ~1 hr connection last August, but as in your experience I was notified in flight by email (and on landing at LHR). It turns out SQ does not have a priority service for delivering late baggage to PPS members, it was over 24 hours till my suitcase was delivered despite four flights per day coming into LHR.

Probably depends who is operating baggage services for SQ in LHR.

My experience in Singapore was my suitcase was delivered within an hour or two of its arrival. Im not PPS.

Worst case scenario is that they will put you on the later flight that evening. Or alternatively organise a hotel for you and put you on a flight the next day. Unless you have an event planned the morning of your arrival I wouldnt be particularly bothered by either scenario, provided you dont face visa restrictions for entry into Singapore

the more troublesome issue is if you checked in a wheelchair and it didnt make the connection while you did. im not sure how easy it is to borrow one for extended period at DPS especially after normal working hours
