Couple stays over past 2-3 years. Each time a small box of crackers which I think had 2 different flavors inside.

That's what it seems like too, only suites get more than crackers. Not a deal breaker, I still prefer this Hyatt over others. I'll cry about no wine and fruits while laying in Frette sheets, after downing Veuve in the lounge.

Same for my stay this past February, except the cherries were swapped with strawberries.

Card Categorization
Hello,
Looking to book Grand Hyatt with Aeroplan card to utilize their PYB feature. Hoping someone can confirm that when paying through their prepayment link they send, that it does in fact categorize as travel/hotels. Thank you!

IME for non-suite, you just get the little box with the crackers. However during the course of the stay, every few days they will do a surprise and delight and have some (high quality) fruits laid out neatly: cherries, grapes, strawberries, etc.
For suite, the three container box (crackers, sweets, etc.) is part of the suite and gets replenished daily. But on top of that bottle of wine and fruits. One time instead of the wine, got some high quality bottles of water.

Booked a king room here with cash and applied one of my lounge access certs since the sale price was better than using points. As an explorist what are the chances I will get upgraded to a higher floor with a better view?

What you do want, which is the usual upgrade, is the view not facing the Roppongi Hills Death Star. You should ask for it if it is not what you are given. This hotel is pretty chintzy about upgrades, but half the rooms face in the right direction, so it isn't like inventory is constrained.

Don't know about your chances, but the view from all the floors is pretty much the same, nothing of any marvel. So low floor, high floor, all the same. As a matter of fact, I'd prefer a lower floor. Less swaying and easier to escape if the big one hits while in residence.

However there was construction going on across the street on the other side, so for now, not sure which side is necessarily better.

I was there recently and faced the construction. I did not find it to be a big problem, but your mileage may vary. I was on a mid level room.
