The Standard Maldives is live now on Hyatt's website and App.
-Points booking are 21000-29000 points per night
- it's interesting that the points room is the Lagoon
Beach Villa, which is the most expensive 1 bedroom villa, but it's less private than the Ocean Beach Villa.
-- Return transfers from Malé (MLE) are at USD 495 per adult and USD 297 per child (ages 2-11.99) and infants travel for free.

I contacted the hotel earlier this week and was told that they are still in the process of figuring out the benefits for globalists/GOH + points bookings. That includes upgrades, meal plans costs, etc...

In my experience (and especially in Asia) hotels that have breakfast in all revenue rates also extend that to award stays. They probably think its more trouble than its worth to develop a process to make points guests pay for breakfast

Received reply with link to the a la carte price list. Prices looks reasonable for Maldives levels.
No update on breakfast for Hyatt redemption bookings.
Edit: confirmed free breakfast for Hyatt points redemptions.

Looks like the points redemption villa has been updated from Lagoon Beach Villa to the Ocean Overwater Villa.
This change must happened in the last few days. I know many people would be happy about booking an OWV with a pool using points. However, the OWVs are the entry levels on this resort and they are crammed together.
It's unfortunate because I was planning on booking the beach villa using points for my family since I have young ones.

I've been waiting for reviews too but the other 2 Hyatt properties get such good reviews, The standard seems to be a notch below in general, kinda looks a holiday inn, do you want to spend all that money to go to the Maldives and stay at a cheap property, especially if you're using points and the difference isn't that big

But IMO, it’s not comparable to Holiday Inn. The HI resort in Maldives is close to Male, old, looks cheap and often with group package tourists. It’s actually located right next to a large island that has a dozen hotels and resorts.
The Standard: OWV are big (110 vs 115 at PH) and have plunge pool as standard (pardon the pun). The villas are modern and the beach looks better than many other resorts.

Standard is more like a mid range lifestyle brand. It’s never going to or expected to compete with the likes of PH. If you can afford it, go for the other two, they are clearly superior.

At PH we ran out of things to do comfortably, at the Standard there were still plenty left to try had we stayed longer. And in the end, I didn't travel to the Maldives for the hotel room (if all I want a luxurious room I can go to the Place Vendome or something like that), but for the activities at the resort, starting with being able to comfortably get into the water to see the house reef. Just something to think about when choosing a resort.

We just stayed at the Standard, and I have to say that I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed my stay at the PH eight years ago. The OWV are indeed big, and not as luxurious as the ones at PH. But what won me over is the fact that the whole resort is setup in a way that makes it easier to enjoy for people that are not in the greatest physical shape. I don't have any mobility impairments, but I am not the strongest swimmer (and there are lots of us in that category out there), don't dive (mildly claustrophobic) and I can enjoy so many more of the things the Standard offers. To take one simple example, the fact that they have the inclined stairs to get into the water from the OVW, while the PH has the straight-down ladder that I found super hard to negotiate. The water activities the PH offers (or at least offered at the time) were oriented more towards divers, the enthusiastic snorkeler being more than an afterthought. And the personnel in charge of the excursions kept telling us 'you should try diving, it is so much better than this'. The end result is that we actually spent more money on activities at the Standard in 4 days than at the PH in a week, but we enjoyed them immensely more. And it's not because the Standard charges more per experience, even compared with the what the PH was charging 8 years ago
