Just in time for UA to finally have a consistent business class product for the last couple years... and now we add this to the mix.

My only hope is the business plus seats don't become a sort of Non-rev class, like we saw happen with American's flagship first, And that they give at least GS or even 1Ks the ability to select them close to departure time in the event they are not sold

I really don't see the value of doors over the current product. I cannot see anyone else while in Polaris (including Mrs. Augie if I put up the barrier) so the utility of a door that you can see over when you're in the aisle feels more like a check the box type thing because people have it in their heads that it provides more privacy in what appears to be a seat not much different than the current hard product.

In today's configuration I don't see the need for doors in the window odd numbered seats. However, I'd use the door every single time if I was in the even numbered window seats. I simply don't want anyone passing by that close disturbing my sleep (I'm a light sleeper). For me it's not a privacy issue (most ppl are above whatever height the doors would be), it's a sleep issue... I'd have to see the new seating config in real life to determine whether the doors are needed with respect to sleep... just my $0.02

I'm curious how the door would improve on this - the mild wind currents created by a passing pax's legs? I understand someone might duck into your seat area without a door to allow someone to pass, but I think generally people use the window seat walkway to do that.

Yeah, I don't buy the weight issue.

The few times I've sat in an even numbered Polaris seat, that has happened far too often.

Virgin has reverse herringbone at the window and regular in the center on their A350s.

It's not like you can look out with your feet from a reverse herringbone layout either. Herringbone (reverse or otherwise) is IMO a layout with zero window seats designed by aisle seat people, and I am very disappointed to see UA leaning that way after such a great Polaris hard product and now DL moving away too. It feels like a step backwards.

First photos of the new AA business class product, which Polaris 2.0 MAY be using the same seat, but I am still holding out it will be the seat CX uses for the Aria Suite on the retrofitted 77Ws, have come out. Let's just say there is a video monitoring issue, especially the bulkheads. The current Polaris screens are solid in my estimation and I would figure UA has a better plan for AA for those bulkhead rows. I wonder what Kirby thought when he saw that front row of AA's new business class where the screens looked like something out of 2000 for INTL First Class. Hell, the IPTE Global First screen was a good deal larger than it. And of course the materials AA used as well for that bulkhead row didn't scream premium either. I hope and I do think UA's unveiling of Polaris 2.0 since the original Polaris unveiling had issues of its own, will be MUCH better than what AA just did.

Low down on the list of 'features' but hopefully the seats will have more than one USB-C in addition to USB-A. The same Bluetooth headset connectivity as the NEXT screens should also be on the list (even though I've had mixed success actually getting that to work!). The silly little cabinet that holds one bottle of water and the headphones isn't needed, and the lightshade is hopefully redesigned / repositioned as well. Ability to position my iPad in front of the screen would be nice but not essential.
