Not quiet on topic but another thing Qantas was offering via some travel agents was - book a return flight on Qantas and get free Qantas Gold for 12 Months. So just booked flights to Aus in Economy, waiting for it to be applied , will be interesting to see if it’s 12 months or based on membership dates.

I can turn the AirNZ lights out after you've all left.....
Just a gut feeling but I have my doubts many will actually swap programmes altogether. Every FFP has its pros and cons and I've flown quite a bit of both and still won't let NZ go.

I know that QF has pulled that as I am not sure it was executed as QF intended with those agents. I too will be interested to see if you secure gold as the offer was WAY too generous.

I will be pushing hard with the agent if it doesn’t happen , very big case of false advertising if so, just have to wait and see. At least I will be pushing for refund of fees , as could have done the booking myself. Will come back with a result once confirmed.

Thanks

Hi Team,

This might be better answered in the Qantas forum but thought I'd try here first. Also, FYI, Qantas has just released their double SP or double Qantas points offer! So get booking guys

My membership year is from 1 Feb 2025 - 31 Jan 2026. I've registered for this Gold promo and I should achieve 100 SP by early April (before cut off date).
1. Once achieved, does this mean I should have Gold status until 31 Jan 2027? Anyone can confirm this?
2. If the above holds true, does this mean I have until 31 Jan 2027 to try get 600 SP to retain Gold? Or does this reset from 31 Jan 2026 and I have to try get 600 SP from 31 Jan 2026?
3. The 100SP we got from this promotion, can this count towards the 600 SP to retain?

Thanks in advance

1. I also have 31 Jan anniversary date, and assumed this is what will happen.
2. Don’t think so. Reports indicate your anniversary date will remain the same, so presume any SCs earned between 15 April (Gold date) and 31 Jan 2026 will effectively only count towards LifeTime SCs).
3. So the 100SC earned between now and 15 Apr 2025 will only count until 31 Jan 2026. You’ll need to earn 600 SCs in your year 31 Jan 2026 to 31 Jan 2027 to main QF Gold going forward.

Confirming you will have gold until January 2027. Through this promotion I got gold past my anniversary date and for the full 12 months following, i.e. about 16 months.

honestly it’s so clutch. 1.5-2 years of oneworld lounges is no joke.

Got my membership pack 2 weeks after attaining Gold status. Bag tag is pretty cool!

Wish I had jumped on this when the offer was going (as opposed to being a slacker and procrastinating). Have been booking a lot more Qantas and Jetstar travel recently due to lower pricing. E.g. off to Wellington next week, and return Jetstar with exit row seating selected was 1/3 price of Air NZ (plus I don't have to sit on a crappy ATR on the way home). Nobody can convince me an extra $400 for the privilege of a free coffee and some average lounge food is worth the difference.

Hopefully they run it again before my Elite status expires as at the current rate I'll definitely not be keeping that.

You can make a case to Qantas and email them at [email protected] with your NZ elite card, your recent activity statement, maybe last 6 months asking for a status match or something. They might consider offering you the tier accelerator offer. I think it's 200sc within 3 months to receive gold? And you could choose the start date to coincide with your best run of flights. 80sc J TT one way, should get you there in no time. Then you've got the DSC promos, current one ends tonight but you'd be able to retain gold easily at 600sc per year.

Kind of off topic but does AirNZ ever do status matches? Would be super helpful

Publically no. Can't remember any.

There is the HSCB *A Credit Card, which kinda gives you gold fairly simply.
