Not quiet on topic but another thing Qantas was offering via some travel agents was - book a return flight on Qantas and get free Qantas Gold for 12 Months. So just booked flights to Aus in Economy, waiting for it to be applied , will be interesting to see if it’s 12 months or based on membership dates.

Just a gut feeling but I have my doubts many will actually swap programmes altogether. Every FFP has its pros and cons and I've flown quite a bit of both and still won't let NZ go.

Hi Team,
This might be better answered in the Qantas forum but thought I'd try here first. Also, FYI, Qantas has just released their double SP or double Qantas points offer! So get booking guys
My membership year is from 1 Feb 2025 - 31 Jan 2026. I've registered for this Gold promo and I should achieve 100 SP by early April (before cut off date).
1. Once achieved, does this mean I should have Gold status until 31 Jan 2027? Anyone can confirm this?
2. If the above holds true, does this mean I have until 31 Jan 2027 to try get 600 SP to retain Gold? Or does this reset from 31 Jan 2026 and I have to try get 600 SP from 31 Jan 2026?
3. The 100SP we got from this promotion, can this count towards the 600 SP to retain?
Thanks in advance

2. Don’t think so. Reports indicate your anniversary date will remain the same, so presume any SCs earned between 15 April (Gold date) and 31 Jan 2026 will effectively only count towards LifeTime SCs).
3. So the 100SC earned between now and 15 Apr 2025 will only count until 31 Jan 2026. You’ll need to earn 600 SCs in your year 31 Jan 2026 to 31 Jan 2027 to main QF Gold going forward.

Confirming you will have gold until January 2027. Through this promotion I got gold past my anniversary date and for the full 12 months following, i.e. about 16 months.

Wish I had jumped on this when the offer was going (as opposed to being a slacker and procrastinating). Have been booking a lot more Qantas and Jetstar travel recently due to lower pricing. E.g. off to Wellington next week, and return Jetstar with exit row seating selected was 1/3 price of Air NZ (plus I don't have to sit on a crappy ATR on the way home). Nobody can convince me an extra $400 for the privilege of a free coffee and some average lounge food is worth the difference.
Hopefully they run it again before my Elite status expires as at the current rate I'll definitely not be keeping that.
