Wind is still quite high round us, no tiles off the roof, but just had a power cut!

At least I can use my phone as a hotspot so I can still post on FT from my iPad. The pleasures of modern technology!

I have a little UPS that my router is plugged into, the joy and paranoia of working from home in IT, has served me well a couple of times.

Yikes! We had that a couple of years go. When I had it fixed I asked the roofers to use a strong bond, given it was the end of a ridge line and more exposed to the wind. Seems they used the cement equivalent of superglue since it is holding strong.

PS I trust the neighbours are not the type to sue due to the emotional stress.

Neighbours are fine. Just a pity this has happened with the house sale proceeding. The house is at the top of a hill, so rather exposed.

they definitely have. There are some no go regions and shall I say some city centres are uncomfortable (to say the least).
But the whole country is very welcoming and they have embraced tourism is a lovely way.
That said Senior Mrs ST casually told me when I got back that two of her friends were kidnapped on a botany tour. But that was over 20 years ago, mum 😀

Happy Friday one and all!

Another week romps past! This week I’ve been down in Birmingham again but it’s been a fun week with two different group nights out. Today not so much fun, back onto the miserable cross country train and up to the North of England. My weekend will be very unexciting, catching up on some work and getting the house in order!

A bit of carnivorous happiness, this was last night main course

Happy Friday, I will see some FT folks next week at the 'Xmas Do'.
This morning saw a return to form in Advent of Code Day 13 after work yesterday meant I nearly didn't solve the Day 12 puzzle.
Advent of Code 2024
Been getting up at 04:40 all of December to have a crack at these when they come out at 5am UK time.
Hey, you've got to have a hobby

Theres a tropical downpour in progress here in Cebu. But the days focus is the forthcoming draw for the World Cup qualifiers. UEFA will be determining our travels for the Autumn as we plan to go to all the away games.
Im hoping we 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 draw Austria, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Bosnia. But Id be really happy with a trip to the Faroes.
Our footballing trips have taken us to places we would not have visited: Armenia was a real joy and Riga has improved no end in the last twenty years. And we used our recent Turkey trip to visit the Gallipoli landing sites with a five day car hire. Its strange how many of our trips need a five day car hire 😀. The game was south of Ankara in a not uninteresting city but its always a joy to visit Istanbul.
The worst outcome would be a trip to a dreary shopping centre in NW London. It hardly compares with a visit to the Bernabeu after a few days of tapas and Rioja, a visit to the Prado and so on.

Morning all. Nothing much to report, dealing with roofers and their rather expensive quotes. Happy weekend to all.

Pretty good time to be a roofer or tree surgeon! Some nice cash in hand before Christmas...

Yup, after my team qualified for Europe last year Ive found it is a great excuse to go to places you would either not normally consider, or perhaps get to visit when youd needed an excuse to go! All those extra TPs dont hurt either. This year we got drawn against 4 teams who play in places I have never been before, so that was a bonus.

Happy Friday because I got back on Wednesday after seeing us win again and Im still buzzing.

Happy Friday all. Just arrived on the 31 into HKG, delayed due to a mechanical issue. Group 0 kept separately from the rest, which was at least something when having to sit indefinitely at C gates.

Crew lovely as always, yet catering terrible as always, sadly.

Was due to land in Yerevan (EVN) at 5am local time this morning but due to bad weather we circled around about 10 times before diverting to Tbilisi (TBS). Looks like another 6 flights were diverted as well due to the conditions, chaos at TBS with the influx of unexpected arrivals. 7 hour coach ride was offered but opted for a more comfortable 5hr taxi instead.

Happy Friday to my first ever diversion!
