Discussion of the discontinued Sears MasterCards which earn ThankYou Points has been moved to a separate thread, HERE.

Application link for the Shop Your Way (SYW) MasterCard is HERE.

Accumulating points, expiration, and redemptions:
You can accumulate SYW points in some of the following methods:
  • Bonus offers sent to your email (ie: Spend $750 on Online and get 200,000 SYW Bonus points)
  • Regular spend - categories: 5% in gas, 3% in grocery/restaurants, 2% in SYW Merchants, 1% everywhere else
  • "Missions" in the SYW App (iPhone/Android)
Expiration of points:
Not all points have the same expiration timeframe. Some bonus/incentive points expire in 30 days or less. Most are 1 year. You can check in the SYW app, or the shopyourway.com website. Make sure to redeem the points before they expire!!!!

Redemptions:
You can only redeem $200 worth per day. So if you redeem for a $200 GC, you have to wait until the next day to make another redemption of any amount.

Credit Line Increases
This is very odd, but according to the Chatbot on the website:
Q. When requesting a credit limit increase, is the credit inquiry a hard or soft credit inquiry?
A. Unfortunately, until we process the request, there isn't a way for us to know if a credit line increase request will be a soft or hard hit on your credit report. For this reason, we have to receive your permission to pull a copy of your credit report before we process the increase request. If you process the request online, you will see a message stating "By submitting this form, you authorize Citibank, N.A. to obtain your credit report."

To request an increase online:
In order to request an increase, you will need to go to your Credit Home page, and find Available Credit at the top of the page. Then, click on the link that says Request Increase to begin the process.

Anyone else's grocery stores removed all Amazon GC?
One store (Price Chopper) says it's unavailable in the entire state of NY and that all Amazon GC are in "limited distribution".

Just curious if anyone else is seeing this in other states?

(Yes, trying to maximize the 10% rebate as I do have some expensive items to buy on Amazon)

Moderator reminder

I am considering whether to divide this discussion into two threads. One for Sears cards which earn ThankYou points (TYP), and the other for cards which earn Shop Your Way points. To assist me in making this decision, please reply to the Poll which I added at the top of the thread. Note that I will be able to see who participated in the poll, and how you answered. I need this information to make and implement my decision. If you prefer not to participate in the poll, you can respond by clicking the red Alert icon in the lower left corner of this post and mentioning which card(s) you use.

LAST CHANCE. POLL CLOSING ON WEDNESDAY, 31 JULY 2024

I missed the poll. SYW here. I think it's ok to keep them combined as many of the offers are similar, I just wish posters would specify which version they have when posting (if it makes a difference) but, for me, I assume SYW unless stated otherwise.

A couple of DG questions:
  • Any thoughts on whether some DGs code as grocery? Like DG Market, perhaps?
  • Does DG have any way of paying in-store with SYW through a mobile app?
    • Long ago they took PayPal, but I think maybe they don't anymore. (My cashier didn't know of anything like that, and the terminal didn't seem to support it.)
    • I know they have the "DG Wallet" app which I don't fully understand. Does that have any type of mobile wallet functionality?
    • They take the big 3 mobile wallets, but I've seen data points that none of those works with SYW. Talking USA here.

Just got a new offer. 5% back in statement credits on Utilities with a minimum spending requirement of $400 and a maximum spending requirement of $800. For Aug, Sept, and Oct. I wish it was a higher reward rate, but it is still slightly better than my normal Utilities card which is my Elan MCP (5%) only because I get an additional 1% back in SYW points.

Eh, also got the 5% Utilities offer. Min $450 spend, max $50 statement credit on SYW card.

I dont have nearly enough utility bills to hit this amount. Id have to prepay like $1000 of utilities to max out the offer just for one month and not sure if I want to go that route. Maybe something like buying a new phone from a carrier might code as a utility (phone service) but not sure if its really worth that. Probably going to sit this one out.

I got the utility offer too. 5% statement credit for $450 - $1000 spend per month for 3 months. Not the best but it could very well come in handy if I get the 250,000 SYWPs for $1000 online spend/mo offer on the 15th of 1 - 3 of the next three months. I paid a hefty summer electric bill last time and that $500 counted toward online.

I noticed I also got the Utilities offer. I was hoping it would be GGR which I haven't had since last year.

2. SPEND$400 or more each month through 10/31/2024 on total eligible utilities purchases on your Shop Your Way Mastercard (only purchases made after activation qualify).13. EARN5% back in statement credits each month during this offer (up to a maximum monthly statement credit of $40).1Hurry, offer ends 10/31/2024!

I won't use. My electricity bill is only $80 a month and I can't prepay and my natural gas bill is prepaid several years already from prepaying two years ago.

Is anyone else having problems with using their SYW card and Walmart Pay for buying gift cards? I was going to buy some walmart gift cards (not the visa gift cards, just plain old physical Walmart giftcards) to fulfill the online spending offer and the GGR offer at the same time. Every time I try to buy gift cards and use Walmart pay to pay for the transaction the walmart app just stop the payment for security purposes and tells me to use another payment method.

Since I had another sub offer to do on a BoA CCR card, I decided to use that card and the transaction went through just fine on the app. Then when I tried it again on my SYW card, the app just stop the transaction again and tells me to use another payment method. I tried it again a third time but this time I had the gift card be only $5 and the transaction went through just fine on my SYW card via Walmart Pay. Anyone know how to solve this issue? I tried calling in both SYW and Walmart and both have no idea what I'm even talking about and point fingers at each other. I'm hoping I'm not stuck with buying $5 walmart gift cards here, because it is not feasible to buy in small amounts with such high spending requirements on these SYW offers.

You can only have 1. But if you have a spouse you can each have 1.

One time I had a different issue, where WM pay just kept pending for like 10 minutes and I gave up. Not sure what happened, it was a small amount bought with something else on a phone+account+card that had worked before. Eventually the charge came off my card, not sure whether my random calls to customer service were necessary for that to happen or not. The time it failed was at human checkout using an old-style terminal. Let's call the WM with that bad experience "WM #1." I never tried using that same phone or that same WM again for VGC. I have successfully used SCO (no VGC) at WM #1 since then.

At WM #2, I've been able to buy nearly $500 VGC at a time (haven't tried more) with 2 other phones on WM Pay at the SCO.

At WM #3, I've been able to use 3 other phones on WM at the SCO (didn't try VGC).

I always keep my total purchase under 500 and include bananas or tea or something with my purchase. Not sure that's necessary. And that didn't help me the one time.

There are a few other DPs more like yours where WM pay just arbitarily declines. I'm probably about 4k deep into my VGC buys and that was over 6 months.
