Discussion of the discontinued Sears MasterCards which earn ThankYou Points has been moved to a separate thread, HERE.

Application link for the Shop Your Way (SYW) MasterCard is HERE.

Accumulating points, expiration, and redemptions:
You can accumulate SYW points in some of the following methods:
  • Bonus offers sent to your email (ie: Spend $750 on Online and get 200,000 SYW Bonus points)
  • Regular spend - categories: 5% in gas, 3% in grocery/restaurants, 2% in SYW Merchants, 1% everywhere else
  • "Missions" in the SYW App (iPhone/Android)
Expiration of points:
Not all points have the same expiration timeframe. Some bonus/incentive points expire in 30 days or less. Most are 1 year. You can check in the SYW app, or the shopyourway.com website. Make sure to redeem the points before they expire!!!!

Redemptions:
You can only redeem $200 worth per day. So if you redeem for a $200 GC, you have to wait until the next day to make another redemption of any amount.

Credit Line Increases
This is very odd, but according to the Chatbot on the website:
Q. When requesting a credit limit increase, is the credit inquiry a hard or soft credit inquiry?
A. Unfortunately, until we process the request, there isn't a way for us to know if a credit line increase request will be a soft or hard hit on your credit report. For this reason, we have to receive your permission to pull a copy of your credit report before we process the increase request. If you process the request online, you will see a message stating "By submitting this form, you authorize Citibank, N.A. to obtain your credit report."

To request an increase online:
In order to request an increase, you will need to go to your “Credit Home” page, and find “Available Credit” at the top of the page. Then, click on the link that says “Request Increase” to begin the process.

$50 STATEMENT CREDIT EACH MONTH

when you use your Shop Your Way Mastercard® to make 5 eligible purchases each month of $60 or more each. Offer is valid 6/1/2024 (or from the date you activate this offer, whichever date is later) through 8/31/2024.
Only got the offer on 1 of 2 cards. Hoping it shows up on my card in the next day or two.

I have a negative balance on my card due to a promotional statement credit. Any way to request a check or direct deposit back to my checking account?

I received very sad news today which really hurts the value of the SYW Mastercard for me. Curve US is ending and I think cards are dead immediately based on the communication I received. For those of you who don't know, Curve was a credit card that allow you to route your purchases to any card you had linked to it. It was limited to Mastercard and Discover credit cards. Curve and SYW worked very well together.

1) All transactions made on Curve card passed the correct category through to the SYW card
2) All in person transactions made on Curve card coded as "online purchases" with SYW mastercard
3) Curve had a feature called "Go back in time" which allow you to move purchases from 1 card to another within 30 days. This feature was particularly important to because it allowed me to make $2000 in transactions on 1 SYW card and then move them to a 2nd SYW card. And while the SYW Mastercard consider returns when it comes to adding and deducting SYW points, it does not consider return purchases when applying purchases towards special offers.

So, essentially, I have been making $2000 in purchases a month around town and getting both $200 GGR rewards, both online rewards, and whatever other offer (6x $50, for example). Since CITI won't let me purchase gift cards directly with SYW Mastercards due to "fraud concerns" but those purchases did travel through Curve, I figure this loss is going to cost me a ~$3000 or so over the remainder of 2024. I definitely do not have $4k/mo of real GGR or even $1k/mo of online purchases.

Looks like I have until July 8 so I can get through June and hurry and complete July. Then decide how I want to move forward afterwards.

Wow, with benefits like that I'm surprised this card wasn't mentioned more often. Oh well.

If you mention it you kill it. But since it's killed I figured I'd let the cat out of the bag.

$2000 returns every month might have raised some concerns. Surprised they let you keep the card open at all.

Not a great deal - a year of supercharged returns, but now you can't make the min spend easily? Of course, the deals could end anytime anyway

I was never able to buy VGC with the SYW card due to Citi flagging it as fraud. When I called they said they will never approve a VGC purchase on my account. I was buying at 7-11 which had $500 VGC with a $4.95 fee and coding as gas. But those transactions went through fine on Curve. I suppose because Curve masked L3 data. I do not have a way of spending $4000/mo organically on GGR.

I always thought they’d give me a hard time about returns, but they never did.

Did this offer come from Citi or from SYW? I get emails from both separately.

I saw some talk about about Kroger pay coding as online purchase. I tried it just now on a $500 VGC and it failed, an alternative payment method was requested.

I have almost always gotten 10k Points for $1,000 spend but this came in today and it is less! (I've also never had an offer this low).

I got the same $70 for $1000 I always get.
