Codeshare PE R and A?

"Hello fellow travelers,

I'm currently in the process of booking a ticket from Japan to IAD (Washington Dulles) in Premium Economy class. However, I'm a bit confused about the miles accrual rate for a specific situation, and I was hoping someone here might be able to provide some insight.

The flight I'm looking at is operated by All Nippon Airways (NH) but is marketed under a United Airlines (UA) codeshare. The two booking classes available for Premium Economy are R and A, but I'm unsure about the corresponding miles accrual rates (put in NH program) for these classes.

Upon checking ANA's miles chart, I couldn't find any information about the R booking class, which has left me a little perplexed. Additionally, the A booking class is typically associated with First Class, which adds to my confusion.

I'm eager to understand the miles accrual rates for these specific booking classes on this NH-operated but UA codeshare flight. If anyone has experience or knowledge about this particular scenario, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you in advance for your help!"

Welcome to Flyertalk and the ANA forum.
We are usually a very friendly and helpful bunch, though we sometimes can be a bit sharp tongued, but we generally mean well. Stick around and it is an amazing resource of information.

Codeshare on Star Alliance is a bit complex. You will earn based on the operating carrier's booking class. When you book a United codeshare premium economy, United will show you a booking class. That United booking class will map to an ANA booking class, and the ANA booking class is what you will earn miles based on. It is not always easy, in some cases literally impossible to see what the booking class of the operating carrier is. And accordingly difficult to know what you will actually earn.

For PE at least UA's O / A / R should map to G / E / N on NH

Hi, understand this is a two years old tread, but Im facing the exact situation. Im flying ANA, which was codeshare with United. I booked a premium economy via United on class R.

Upon writing in to ANA to confirm the booking fare class, they replied the following:

We are in receipt of your updated email.

In response to the query, the mileage accrual rate is determined by the
booking class listed on the purchased ticket. Please note that the
United Airlines' R-class is not automatically equivalent to ANA's
N-class fare.

As this is a R-class fare on an ANA-operated flight, if passengers wish
to accrue miles under the ANA Mileage Club (AMC) account, this
will not be an eligible booking class.

While ANA may assist with registering frequent flyer numbers for
partner airlines before departure upon request, we do not have access
to the mileage accounts of other airlines. Therefore, any inquiries
regarding mileage credit should be directed to the chosen airline
mileage program.

Thank you again for contacting ANA.
This further add to the confusion as I really needed this miles as Im short of 10,000 miles for my Krisflyer to maintain my gold status, and this ANA SIN to LAX return if in class N, will help me to retain my gold status. Appreciate if anyone can assist to give some opinion.

I would suggest asking in the United forum, they may know better what a UA codeshare on NH metal in booking class R maps to. The old information would indicate that R goes to N, but booking classes and fare codes are more complex than they used to be.....
