This thread is for discussion of so-called Chase Offers, which have the following characteristics:
  • They are visible in your Chase Online account and in the app.
  • They are targeted. You will not necessarily receive the same offer on a specific card type (or even any offer at all) compared to other holders of that card.
  • There may be multiple simultaneous variations of a given offer. Current offers for a specific merchant may vary in terms of discount level (e.g., 10% vs. 20%), expiration date, or maximum benefit. Pay close attention to the particulars of each offer.
  • You must register for (add) an offer in order to use it. (The Chase Offers FAQ states incorrectly that registration is not required.)
  • They run for short periods (typically less than 30 days), not for a full quarter.
  • They generally offer a percentage discount (up to a stated maximum) or, less commonly, a fixed rebate (for spending a stated minimum amount) on purchases from an individual merchant. They are typically not for spending in generic categories such as groceries, gas, etc., although these do show up on rare occasions.
  • They are typically for one-time use only. On rare occasions, however, a Chase Offer may apply to all purchases (up to a set maximum) made with the relevant card during the offer period.
  • Chase will occasionally extend an offer with no notice other a changed expiration date in the offer T&C. This does not allow for double-dipping: that is, you may not use a one-time offer during the added period if you already used it during the initial validity period.
  • Statement credits may take as long as to appear in your transactions.
    • You can adjust your profile settings to receive email notificationusually arriving within a few hoursafter youve made a qualifying purchase.

The AS offer is via Cardlytics from what I can tell because it is available for many BofA and Chase cardholders. All this means is that Cardlytics does not get access to your card type, but only spend history. At Chase, it is each card individually history. Usually the filter is something like, if AS previous charges, then don't give the offer for that card (or give the lower 5% offer instead of 10%).

Now BofA does something different as the offer is applied at the account level not card level, so if you qualify you can use it on any card, but all cards are looked at together to determine what offers you get.

Chase has gone further and marked offers as Exclusive when they are not available to other issuers (Kohls). AmEx definitely gets Cardlytics, but they also go after a premium set of merchants with their in-house programs and maybe a special marketing team at these vendors.

My targeted CSR is definitely the card that has seen thousands of dollars in AS charges. I generally prefer to use it over the BofA VISA due to insurance benefits and because I value the flexibility of UR vs. AS miles (and already earn a lot of AS miles from flying).

My BofA account only has two AS cards (personal and business). I don't recall if I ever received an AS offer on my Amex cards, but I do occasionally use my Amex Plat for AS purchases to balance out UR and MR earnings.

Love those 20% Kohls exclusives on my Chase cards. Cuts the cost of my Amazon purchases by 20%

Anyways, thanks for the insights!

^ I had the restaurant one on 6 of my 7 personal cards. Gives a reason to dust off the long sock drawered United and IHG cards!

I noticed that I had the offer on 2 of my Chase debit cards as well. Also, it seems like this offer is appearing on the co-branded cards more regularly than the Freedom and Sapphire cards.

Yep, I find the $5 off $10 off restaurant purchase offer on all my IHG cards (personal + biz).

I read many DPs of people saying "I put dining purchases on my CSR/CSP everyday I didn't get this offer on my Sapphire cards whyyyy". I assume Chase is trying to entice spend on socker-drawered cards.

I got it on three sock-drawer residents / co-branded cards (IHG, Marriott, UA Gateway) that I never use for dining and my CSR (that I always used for dining until I recently switched to the CFU for dining charges).

I have nothing on any card (or is that nothing on every card?), perhaps because I had stuff last quarter and charged at least something to each card.

Now I'm wondering if Chase has partnered with some Psychology Department somewhere to see how often the rats return (this rat in particular) to where the cheese was.

We currently have 19 cards, and we have the deal on 16 cards. The only ones it is not on are the ones opened within the last 12 months

9/18 for this household. Cards in regular, substantial use got nothing. We have no true sock-drawered, zero-spend Chase cards--all of them have at least one small charge (<$1) each month--but the majority of the minimal-use cards qualified for the restaurant offer.

As an aside, note that putting one small charge per month on a card definitely tickles the Chase algorithm that offers $10 for opting into paperless statements.

Got ti on IHG & CFU

So this $5 off spend $10 is any restaurant where tehCC is used, right?
