If you do not already have one, it is recommended to sign up for an IHG One Rewards account, including a password, before applying for a credit card.

This is the NEW Chase IHG Rewards Club Premier card. It replaced the old IHG Rewards Club Select card in 2018. Existing card members were not automatically product changed to the new card. Among the many changes, the AF jumped from $49 to $89 per year.

Q. Where can I learn more about the annual free-night certificate associated with this card? How long are the certificates good for? Are the certificates revoked if you cancel your Chase card?
A. See Annual Free Night Cert from IHG (Rewards Club) Visa / Mastercard.
Q. Once I meet the spending requirement, how soon will I receive my bonus points?
A. Bonus points typically accrue at the close of the billing period in which you incur the corresponding charges. Points should appear in your IHG account within a few days thereafter.
NOTE: If you complete your required spending in the last 7-10 days of the statement period, the bonus may not post until the following month's statement, even if the regular per-dollar points post on the first statement. This is normal behavior for Chase and is not worth a phone call.
Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
A. For answers to these and other questions, see the wiki and related discussion in the master discussion thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/2016194-applying-chase-business-cards-april-2020-onward.html
Q. Will the signup bonus count toward Spire Elite status?
A. No.

Had read that but wanted to know if anyone was able to cancel or not renew and get accepted for the new card. I've had the $49 annual fee card since it first came out so def over 24 months since bonus. Would just hate to cancel or not renew and find out I can't get the new card bonus but now have a $99 annual fee for nothing.
The $49 card is so valuable, in my opinion go for the business card instead, so you can combine both the 10% rebate and 4th night free

I agree, the legacy Select card is too valuable to churn. For the $49 AF I get an annual free night cert t I have no trouble redeeming for at least $150 value. And the 10% awards rebate I make worth $100 most years. This $200 net benefit wouldn't be worth it for a new card, but for an existing card I can pretty much keep in a drawer, it's great.

I would have phrased the question as "Is it correct that Chase will close accounts that have zero balance for a long time?" I don't have the answer, but I put no spend on my Select card from the time I got the Premier card until there were Chase offers that interested me on the Select card. I don't recall how long that was, and perhaps I got lucky and the Chase offers showed up before Chase decided that my card had been dormant for too long. If anyone knows that Chase has a policy of closing dormant cards, please share the knowledge. I would think Chase would be happy to collect $49 per year whether there is spend or not, but I'm assuming Chase is not buying the free night certificate.

Several years ago there was a scare on FT that credit card issuers were closing dormant accounts. I recall sporadic reports of it happening with Citi, less so with Chase. Citi at the time had much more churner-friendly policies; thus I surmise they had more cleanup to do as they tightened up. At any rate, I've let my Chase IHG Select go well more than 12 months without a charge, other than the $49 AF, twice in the past 4 years.
As a best practice I do try to charge at least one ordinary purchase to each of my cards every 12 months. A few weeks ago, for example, I charged grocery shopping of about $30 to my IHG Select card. I figure that gives me a degree of protection in case a bank suddenly decides to do spring cleaning on its dormant accounts.

I recently cancelled a legacy IHG Select card. The new IHG Premier better suits my/my family's travel patterns.
How long must/should I wait before applying for the Premier card? [Note: I am good on 5/24.]
Thanks

Why did you cancel? You can have both. They are different products.

But if you meant the business Premier card (which has a 140K offer), then yes you can get it while keeping the Select.
