I am a new 1K, $33 PQPs, with a lot of paid first. Fingers crossed, maybe a challenge?

Just called MileagePlus line to ask if I qualified for GS.... $78k+ for 2022.... I was told that I would likely need to "ask for a review."
Looking at sgopal 's sheet... it seems north of $70k should be a decent chance of getting GS.
Starting to think I am crazing giving the bulk of my business to UA.

They should have told you to wait until the 13th. IF all your $70K spend was on UA metal, and you had decent spend in the previous two years, I’d say you will get the invite.

UA cloaks the GS program in secrecy and mystery so I would not read too much in an offhand remark from a MileagePlus rep. There are likely other factors in play here to which we are not privy. There’s lot of history about the spend needed to qualify and 2022 posed its own unique challenges- Asia shut for almost entire year, business travel curtailed, mask mandates through April, etc. I might be whistling past the graveyard but is it smart for UA not to extend GS to folks who spent north of, say, 50k in 2022? Anything’s possible but my bet is the other way

I would personally consider that commentary from the ill-informed and counter to the experience of many past GS qualifiers.

Ditto. No notification, but just checked and it says "Congratulations! We’re pleased to invite you to the exclusive world of United Global Services for 2023."

How important do you think spend is in previous years relative to 2022? I probably had only $20k United metal spend in 2021 (and very little in 2020) but closer to $90k spend on United metal in 2022 (out of SFO). Have only been 1K in the past and have not seen any notifications from United yet for 2023 GS.

If you spent $78K on United metal flights (i.e. not code share flights on alliance airlines, and not counting the $3K starter bonus) then I'd be shocked if you don't get good news on 1/13.
