Word of warning - I attempted to try this last year and was told that the AU must be new to the account and not been associated with the same account previously - you may want to read the T&C to see if there is any mention of this

Appreciate you bringing up the free gold card. I hadn't read the offer carefully, thought it only applied to adding a plat card. I've now added gold cards to both my husband's and my plat cards. Looks like an easy 40K total for us.

I recently got this offer. Does anyone know how long the offer lasts? I'd like to hold off as long as possible to maximize the lounge access for next year.

If you have any trusted pets or plants you can also add them as AU members for the free gold card. Simply decline to provide an SSN and Amex will cancel the card after 60 days.

Very interesting. I was told by a customer service agent that I wouldn't be eligible for this bonus in this situation when they offered it to me at the end of a call.

Do they charge the annual fee right away?

Is it 20K for each new person added?
Also if I select the Gold, how do the bonus categories work? For the Plat its 5x points on airfare whereas for the Gold its 4x points for restaurants and groceries and 3x for airfare

When you add a Gold or Green card to a Platinum account it earns exactly the same as a Platinum card, it is not related to the freestanding Gold or Green products.

You only get the 20000 point bonus once on whichever added AU meets the spend requirement first (if you add multiple).

Thanks for sharing. A question. My SO already has a Gold card under my Platinum account. Do I need to cancel the Gold card first, and then add her as a Platinum AU?
