The ice cream carton looked familiar and I remember posting a photo of a similar carton last year with a comment that the dessert I had wasn’t on the menu. A close examination of the menu revealed that what was on the menu was Traditional Italian Ice Cream Delicacy. This was on FRA-BOG in January 2018.

The dessert I actually had wasn't on the menu.

I was going to say that LH served basically the same meals on all longhaul flights ex-Germany but the second meal depended on the length of the flight and the time of day. So they served (or used to serve as it turned out) more substantial second meals on flights to SFO or LAX than to BOS or JFK. I just checked relevant menus for May/June 2019 and found they now served exactly the same second meal on all flights to the US. I was curious since the second meal on my FRA-BOG flight last year was this.

Apple Cake with whipped Cream

It looks like LH still serves slightly more substantial second meals on flights to BOG and MEX (~11hr day flights) than on flights of similar lengths to SFO and LAX. It sounds like another “enhancement” undoubtedly due to customer feedback. I remember on a flight to SFO (in F) some passengers turned down the second meal because they were going to have dinner after landing.

Good news for mats184! On the return flight LAX-MUC Business passengers get the same meals (minus one or two options) as First Class passengers.

It depends on which side of the curtain you sit whether you consider this good or bad news.

I am sometimes tempted to book F westbound and J on the return ...

Exactly! We could see the people on the other aisle being served sandwiches and cakes at one point and rang the bell, but it ran out...

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing! Very strange that the second meal is so light, "enhancement" is a probability. A bit OT: We have changed from flying a lot of BA to others due to their great enhancements.

That is very good news! Thanks again for your post.

Sounds like they just didn't have enough of the snacks, as they seemed to have at least some. I wonder whether this is connecting to the recent catering issues discussed in another thread.

I wish you better luck with your flight back.

MAN-MUC J meal, lunch, I was shocked to get any food & beverage given the current sickness epidemic within SkyChef team

Had this dish before recently, so it’s in the cycle & it is better than the average on MAN-MUC but that’s not saying a great deal

Yesterday upfront: one cherry tomato, four pieces of cold pasta, slice of cold meat, mini cake. I’m told this is normal for 2h 20 minutes flight by the crew and unrelated to the LSG issue.

Yes, that’s LH’s idea of a ‘full’ meal in J Intra EU

Full menu = 3 courses = 1 bite of starter, 2 bites for main and 1 for desert.

Bread roll as a bonus.

LH: non stop hungry!

It’s been like this for years? I don’t know why you see this for the first time now.

The OS pre-order meals are better than in C.

LX has got worse, not better!
